Mahindra offers their popular SUV in a total of 34 variants which are divided into six broad variants namely Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8 Select, Z8 and Z8L. Today, we will cover the base Z2 variant of the Scorpio N and understand what it offers with the help of a YouTube video uploaded by Car Quest. The SUV shown in the video is the 2024 version finished in silver colour.

The host starts with the key of the SUV highlighting that remote lock/unlock is not offered here. In the front profile, the car features halogen reflector-based headlights but misses out on DRLs and fog lights.

The car shown in the video comes with a chrome grille which is a part of the accessory. Mahindra offers a matte black grille with a black upper lip in the Z2 trim. Regarding the side profile, the wheel caps, footsteps, shoulder line chrome, C-Pillar chrome and rain visors are part of the accessory package. The car drives on 17-inch steel rims.

The body handles and the ORVMs are not body coloured. Surprisingly, the indicators are integrated into the ORVMs itself. At the rear, necessary features such as the rear wiper with washer, defogger, and reverse parking camera are found missing.

The interior is finished in a combination of Tan and Black which looks stunning. However, no part of the cabin is finished in soft-touch materials. No chrome or silver accents are offered in the cabin. The good thing is that the SUV offers armrests and adjustable headrests in both rows.

The third row comes with adjustable headrests but there is no armrest. A 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and steering-mounted multimedia controls are available in this variant. The steering wheel is regular with no leather wrapping and glossy black elements. The instrument cluster is ana-digital with two dials and a multi-information display.

Talking about the engine specifications, the Scorpio N is offered with two engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both engines are paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol engine delivers 203 hp and 370 Nm of torque. The turbo petrol engined SUV is available only with the rear-wheel drive option.

On the other hand, the diesel engine is offered in two tunes: a 132 hp and 300 Nm torque in lower variants and a 175 hp/370 Nm torque version in higher variants. The Z2 variant comes with a less powerful engine tune and no automatic option. The 6 speed manual gearbox comes standard in this trim, and drives the rear wheels.

The SUV comes with rear-wheel drive, but the diesel engine also comes with 4-wheel drive capabilities in some variants making the SUV a good choice for off the road adventures. Safety features in this variant include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP with hill hold assist, all four disc brakes and reverse parking sensors.

With the petrol engine option, this variant costs Rs. 13.60 lakhs. On the other hand, the diesel variant is priced at Rs. 13.99 lakhs. In the Indian market, the Scorpio N currently competes with XUV 700, Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari.
