Toyota sells the Fortuner in multiple avatars including the GR Sport and the Legender. Recently, a new variant was added to the lineup which was Fortuner Leader Edition. This trim is position between the regular 4×2 Fortuner and the 4×4 Fortuner. Today, we will talk about what the Leader Edition offers via a YouTube video uploaded by Fuel Injected.
The video starts with the front profile of the SUV which features a huge gloss black grille that connects to the bumper. Additionally, this variant offers an extra front splitter which gives the SUV a sporty vibe. The headlights are projector based LED units which feature beautifully designed DRLs. The fog lamps are placed in a glossy black housing and they are LEDs as well. Front parking sensors are also offered in this trim.
The Leader Edition is available only with the diesel engine option. If you want to buy a petrol Fortuner, you can option for the regular version. The diesel engine is a 2.8-litre turbo unit producing 204 PS of power and around 500 Nm of torque. Buyers can opt for a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission.
The option for 4×4 is not available in this trim. The car rides on 17-inch alloy wheels which are borrowed from the regular 4×2 Fortuner. However, these wheels are painted in glossy black. Key features in the side profile include chrome door handles with keyless entry button, foot steps, roof rails, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs.
The chrome strip at the rear with Fortuner badging is painted to glossy black. The rear profile features all LED taillights, rear wiper with washer, defogger, shark fin antenna, reverse parking camera with sensors and an electric tailgate. The rear bumper of the Leader Edition is different from the regular Fortuner.
The cabin of the Leader Edition comes with a dual tone theme. The color combination used is very similar to the Fortuner Legender. The entire cabin is finished in black with red elements. A wireless charger is offered in the second row of seats along with AC vents and a 12V socket.
The key features of the Fortuner Leader Edition are leather upholster, steering mounted multi media controls, leather wrapped steering wheel, UV cut glass, cruise control, push button start, 8-way adjustable front seats with ventilation and much more. The instrument cluster is a 8-inch unit with wireless connectivity.
The host mentions that this variant does not offer ambient lighting and ambient lighting is offered in the Legender only. The additional feature which the Leader Edition offers over the regular Fortuner is TPMS.
The price of the Fortuner Leader Edition starts at Rs. 36.48 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 38.91 lakhs. Please note that the prices mentioned are ex-showroom. The leader edition is offered in three color options only that are super white, pearl white and silver. All of these colors will come with a glossy black roof.
