We have previously discussed the design language of the upcoming Suzuki Swift. It appears sleeker and sportier, with sleeker headlamps, redesigned tail lamps, a modified bumper, and a lowered height, making the car look much sportier than before. It also exudes a more premium look compared to the outgoing model.

Turning to the interior, the Suzuki Swift will come with a completely redesigned cabin. Glossy elements on the dashboard provide a layered look. The car is also equipped with a freestanding 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Automatic climate control, a push start/stop button, a color MID, and fabric seat covers with geometric patterns contribute to its premium appearance.

Details about the upcoming Suzuki Swift have emerged on the brand’s Japan website. The manufacturer has listed some features and technical specifications that the hatchback will come with. The Suzuki Swift will be offered in the market with two engine options:

1.2-liter, 3-cylinder

Suzuki will introduce a new Z12E type 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine that is said to generate a sufficient amount of low-end torque, making driving easier in the city. This engine is tuned to deliver good efficiency and driving performance. According to the website, this engine will be offered in the base XG variant (Japanese market), and this variant will be available with both 2WD and full-time 4WD options. Both versions will come with a CVT gearbox.

1.2-liter Mild Hybrid

In addition to the 3-cylinder engine, Suzuki will also offer a Mild Hybrid engine with the upcoming Swift. This technology already exists in many Suzuki cars in India. The highly efficient ISG (generator with motor function) uses energy during deceleration to generate electricity and charge the dedicated battery. When accelerating, this electric power assists the engine with a motor, reducing fuel consumption and achieving high fuel efficiency.

The mild hybrid version of the Suzuki Swift will be offered with MX and MZ variants (Japanese market), and both variants will have 2WD and full-time 4WD versions with a CVT gearbox as standard. Suzuki seems to be not offering a manual transmission with this hatchback in Japan.

Strong hybrid engine?

In addition to this, India will also be getting a strong hybrid version that will be mated to a 1.2-liter petrol engine. The 48V electric motor in the Swift will help the car achieve better fuel economy. The strong hybrid version of the hatchback is expected to return around 30 kmpl. Compared to the Japanese version, the Indian version of Swift will get a 5-speed manual transmission. Whether we will get a CVT is something we have to wait and watch. The strong hybrid version will get an e-CVT gearbox as standard. The all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift is expected to be launched in the Indian market in 2024. With all these added features and an updated design, the price of the hatchback will increase.
