Maruti has just launched the all-new Swift in the market. The Swift has been one of the most popular hatchbacks in its segment. Over the years, this premium hatchback has evolved in terms of looks and features. The price for the new Swift starts at Rs 6.49 lakh, ex-showroom, and goes up to Rs 9.49 lakh, ex-showroom. Exterior
The exterior design of the new Swift is an evolution from the previous generation. The front end has been heavily redesigned.
The hatchback comes with a redesigned front grille. There is no chrome on the front grille; it now gets a gloss black outline. The design is slightly different from the international version.
The headlamps on the new Swift are projector units. It also gets boomerang-shaped LED DRLs and fog lamps on the bumper.
The front look of the Swift is a bit polarizing, especially because of the new bonnet design. We feel that is something which will grow on the buyers or people who see the car over time.
Coming to the side profile, the new Swift’s design looks similar to the older version.
The shoulder line wraps around the vehicle, giving it a distinct look from the previous version.
The alloy wheel design on the new Swift is different from the last version. It is a 15-inch dual-tone unit. The lower variants get 14-inch wheels.
The side profile of the hatchback also reveals the repositioned rear door handles. The door handles are placed on the door instead of the pillar like in the previous generation model.
At the rear, the Swift gets smoked clear lens LED tail lamps with LED lights in them. There is a high-mounted stop lamp, rear wiper, defogger, and washer. We also see rear parking cameras and sensors on the tailgate and bumper.
The rear of the Suzuki Swift does look a bit bulkier than before.
Interior
Moving in, we see a completely redesigned interior. The layered dashboard design is different from the previous generation.
The steering wheel is a flat-bottom unit which comes with buttons for cruise control and many other features.
The major attraction inside the cabin is the new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The center console is facing the driver for easy usage.
Just below that, we have AC vents, automatic climate control toggle switches, and a wireless phone charging pad.
The all-new Swift comes with fabric seats in black color which go well with the overall theme of the car.
Maruti is offering the new Swift in 9 new color options including three dual-tone shades. They are – Metallic Sizzling Red, Prime Luster Blue, Prime Novel Orange, Metallic Magma Grey, Prime Splendid Silver, Pearl Arctic White, Sizzling Red with Midnight Black Roof (DT), Luster Blue with Midnight Black Roof, and Pearl Arctic white with Midnight Black roof.
Luster Blue and Novel Orange are new shades with the new Swift.
Maruti is now offering 6 airbags as standard with the new Swift.
Engine
Maruti Suzuki Swift is powered by a brand new 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine.
This engine generates 82 Bhp and 112 Nm of peak torque.
This engine is available with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox option.
The manual version has a claimed economy of 24.80 kmpl while the AMT version returns 25.75 kmpl.
