Bajaj Pulsar NS400 motorcycle: What We Know So far

The legendary Pulsar range is poised to get its most powerful member yet in the form of the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar NS400. This muscular new bike will push the NS lineup to exhilarating new heights when it eventually hits Indian streets. Until then, here’s everything we know about this bike that could become an affordable enthusiast favourite.

Performance and power

At the NS400’s heart lies a refined version of the 373.3cc liquid-cooled engine powering the Dominar 400. Tuned specifically for the NS400’s sporty aspirations, this unit will likely churn out around 40PS. Combined with a meaty mid-range, sharp throttle response and a free-revving character up to a 10,000 rpm redline or beyond, the NS400 promises savage acceleration

While official power figures haven’t emerged, the NS400 is rumored to produce approximately 40 PS from its 373.3 cc engine – a retuned version of the unit in the Dominar 400. Alongside strong mid-range performance and free-revving capabilities likely up to 10,000 rpm redline, the NS400 seems poised to deliver exhilarating riding experiences for mid-capacity bike enthusiasts.

Aggressive New Exterior To Match

The NS400’s exterior styling should build upon the muscular aesthetics first introduced on the NS200 and refined in the recent Pulsar 250 models. Signature highlights like a bikini fairing-integrated headlamp assembly, sculpted fuel tank panels and a stepped-up seat will fuse with rear-set footpegs, clip-on handlebars and a sticky rear tire to create a cocky, aggressive new look. Underbelly exhaust pipes and gloss black alloy wheels further the sportbike visual drama.

Equipped for Sharp Handling

Underpinning the NS400’s rumored athleticism will likely be meaty upside-down front forks, preload-adjustable rear monoshock and a stiff chassis geared for rapid direction changes and high lean angles. Radial brake callipers biting 300mm front rotors plus standard dual-channel ABS for high stopping power is also expected. Alloy wheels wrapping sticky tubeless rubber connect those sharp brakes to the tarmac for tenacious grip.

Loaded with Premium Features

In keeping with its premium positioning, the NS400 should house some top-shelf components. Full LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster and Bluetooth connectivity seem likely. Add in an assist/slipper clutch for quicker downshifts plus multiple riding modes to tweak engine mapping, ABS and traction control settings on the fly.

When launched, the Pulsar NS400 could carry an ex-showroom price tag between Rs. 1.7 – 2 lakhs. That positions it to undercut European rivals like KTM’s Duke 390 without sacrificing performance or features. Combined with Bajaj’s widespread service network, the NS400 could possibly shake up India’s value-focused performance bike landscape.

Rumour mills are abuzz that Bajaj could unveil the NS400 sometime in 2024, perhaps initially for export markets. But enthusiasts eagerly awaiting its India launch may not have to wait too long if indications about Bajaj actively developing and fine-tuning the bike prove true. Until official details emerge straight from Bajaj, the NS400 remains largely under wraps. These are all based on rumours and spy shots that hint at what could come. For the real thing, we will probably have to wait for a few more months.
