Ola Electric Reveals Launch Timeline Of First Electric Motorcycle

Last year, India’s largest electric scooter manufacturer, Ola Electric Mobility Ltd, a leading player in the electric two-wheeler market, showcased its upcoming range of EV motorcycles. Now the company has officially announced the launch timeline for its electric motorcycles. As per the company, the first bike will debut in the first half of the financial year 2026.

The particular launch timeline announcement was made in the company’s Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP). The company is also gearing up for its upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO). In addition to the launch timeline, Ola Electric has disclosed plans to broaden its portfolio to include mass-market motorcycles.

Ola Electric looking to expand its range

The Bengaluru-based motorcycle manufacturer is aiming to capture a wider consumer base across different price points and product types. For this, it will be introducing both premium and affordable electric motorcycles in the market. Currently, the affordable electric motorcycle segment has a few startups, such as Revolt and Ultraviolette.

As mentioned last year, the company displayed its four concept electric motorcycles. These were, namely, Diamondhead, Adventure, Roadster, and Cruiser. All of these motorcycles featured unique and futuristic designs. Since the unveiling of these concepts, Ola Electric has also patented three electric motorcycle designs and a removable electric battery.

Market Position and Manufacturing

Ola Electric, as mentioned above, is already a market leader in the electric two-wheeler segment. It holds over 30% market share and competes with notable brands like Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor, and Ather. The company currently offers three electric scooters: S1 Pro, S1 Air, and S1 X.

Currently, the manufacturing of all Ola Electric scooters takes place at Ola Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. This particular plant is capable of producing one million units. However, the capacity utilization was at 36% in 2022-2023.

In addition to the Futurefactory, Ola Electric is establishing a “Giga Factory” for in-house cell manufacturing near its vehicle production facility. This new manufacturing plant will most likely help the company reduce vehicle costs, which will become a crucial factor in a price-sensitive India electric vehicle market.

Detailed Overview of Ola Electric Motorcycles

Cruiser

The first of the four bikes showcased by Ola Electric was its Cruiser. This motorcycle takes inspiration from the classic cruisers from Triumph and Harley Davidson. It gets a laid-back stance and very smooth body lines. Its seat merges rider and pillion seats, which offers a sleek and modern appearance.

The Cruiser boasts an impressive range of approximately 200-250 km. It will be very useful for medium-distance road trips and city commutes. A few of its key features include a single swing-arm rear wheel, a USD fork-equipped 19-inch front wheel, and a 17-inch rear wheel. The Cruiser also gets a unique wheel setup and advanced suspension system.

Adventure

Next up in the lineup from Ola Electric bikes is the Adventure model. This unique motorcycle has been designed to target off-road enthusiasts. It boasts a very rugged design and upright stance. It features a 5-inch digital display centrally positioned on the handlebar.

The concept bike was equipped with 19-inch front wheels and 17-inch rear wheels, both of which were spoked. Additional highlights include USD fork suspension at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. What’s the most interesting part is that this bike, which was shown, is massive in size.

Roadster

The third bike showcased by Ola Electric is its Roadster. This particular model is currently the most developed concept of the four bikes shown by Ola. It features a unique deconstructed design, which sets it apart from other internal combustion engine (ICE) naked street fighters available in India.

This particular bike has been designed to suit the bikers that need something for their everyday use. The Ola Electric Roadster will come with a dual-disc front brake setup and a single-disc rear brake setup.

As for the features, it will come equipped with a 5-inch display with mobile phone connectivity. The Roadster will also get a split seat setup and chain-driven model. This will make it a versatile option for urban commuters.

Diamondhead

Last on the list of bikes shown by Ola Electric is its flagship model, Diamondhead. This particular bike represents Ola Electric’s most ambitious and futuristic design. The highlights of this bike are that it boasts very straight, strong lines and a very bold appearance.

The Diamondhead can be considered the Tesla Cybertruck of India because of its radical design. This bike is targeted at the super sports biking segment. It features a conical front, a digital dashboard, and dual-disc brakes on the front wheel.

The rear wheel of this bike will be equipped with a single disc brake. Also, unlike other models, the Diamondhead is belt-driven and has a very unique front suspension system that looks very futuristic.
