Whenever a new luxury car is launched in the market, a rich businessman or a celebrity is often the first person to pick it. This gives the vehicle much needed visibility in the market, prompting more celebrities and rich businessmen to opt for it. The Mercedes Benz GLS is one such SUV, which is a preferred ride of the rich and famous. Bollywood actress and politician Kirron Kher has just bought a brand new Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV worth Rs 1.3 crore. Images of the actress taking delivery of her new ride have already surfaced online.
The images were shared by Mumbai-based Mercedes-Benz dealer Auto Hangar on their Instagram page. We are yet to see any video of the actress taking delivery of the new SUV. The GLS SUV seen here in the image is the 2024 version, which was launched a few months ago. When compared to the previous version, Mercedes has made some cosmetic changes and has added more features to it. It is not clear whether the actress bought the petrol or diesel version of the SUV.
The three-row SUV is the flagship model from the German car manufacturer. One major difference with the older version is the grille. The redesigned grille comes with four horizontal slats with the Mercedes logo in the center. The new design is polarizing. In our books, the older version’s two-slat design looked better.
From the image, it seems like Kirron Kher has bought the SUV in High-Tech Silver Shade. Other than the redesigned front grille, the GLS gets a new LED DRL signature, a new block pattern in the tail lamps, and a redesigned front bumper. We also see gloss black inserts in the front bumper. The SUV rides on 21-inch alloy wheels.
We already know that the GLS is a huge vehicle. The SUV is 5.2 meters long and 1.96 meters wide. The SUV is available with a premium-looking interior. The 2024 version now comes with a choice of three interior upholstery choices. The customer can choose from black, beige, and brown. All these are finished in faux leather.
The steering wheel in the GLS facelift is new, and it comes with haptic feedback buttons. The MBUX system, which is offered in all Mercedes-Benz models, can be seen here as well. The car offers features like a 360-degree camera, adjustable air suspension, ADAS features for a safer drive, and many more features.
The GLS offers an extremely spacious cabin with creature comforts such as heated and cooled seats, wireless phone charging, and much more. Mercedes is also offering a Rear Seat Comfort package where the customer can opt for features such as controls to adjust the front seat to increase space, electric sun blinds, two 11.6-inch entertainment screens, an additional tablet to control features in the car, and many more. However, it is not clear whether the actress has opted for any of these features for her new SUV.
Mercedes-Benz offers both petrol and diesel engine options with the new GLS. The petrol version is the GLS 450, which uses a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine that generates 381 PS and 500 Nm of peak torque. The diesel version is the GLS 450d, which also uses a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine. This engine generates 367 PS and 700 Nm of peak torque.
Both the petrol and diesel versions get a mild hybrid system that offers a 20 PS boost and 200 Nm of additional torque on demand. Both engine options are mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
