A few days ago, a Mahindra Scorpio-N owner reported that he met with a severe accident where the vehicle crashed into a tree. He added that even the roof of his SUV was ripped open. The accident occurred because the driver fell asleep at the wheel while driving through a forested area.

However, despite the severity of the crash, the passengers escaped with minor injuries. The car owner, however, put forward a major concern as none of the six airbags in the top-end Z8 variant deployed during the crash.

He stated that the airbags should have activated upon impact. The owner then suggested that there could be a failure in the airbag system. Alarmed by this safety lapse, he tweeted to Anand Mahindra, urging improvements in vehicle safety standards.

A Mahindra XUV400 EV owner from Chromepet, Chennai, faced multiple breakdowns with his three-month-old vehicle. The owner of the car highlighted that each breakdown required towing the vehicle to the service center. Following the third breakdown, the frustrated owner parked the car at the Mahindra showroom.

With this, he also added a banner on his car expressing his dissatisfaction. He stated that he invested Rs 21 lakh in purchasing the car and is paying a monthly EMI of Rs 32,000. He added that despite opting for Mahindra over foreign brands, the lack of assistance and recurring issues led him to consider legal action against the company for mental distress and unresolved problems.

The owner provided visual evidence of his vehicle before handing it over, showing no visible scratches.

Frustrated by the lack of response, the owner escalated the matter to the local police. Discussions were ongoing between the police, the owner, and the dealership, but a concrete resolution was not reported.

10 Times Mahindra Disappointed Its Buyers!

In Dimapur, Nagaland, a Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8 (O) variant’s front left wheel came off while driving. This sudden detachment caused the driver to lose control and collide with a parked Mahindra XUV700. The incident resulted in significant damage to both vehicles, with the Scorpio-N’s front grille, bumper, and fenders broken, and the left front wheel beyond repair.

The owner of this car then shared the incident online and stated that he was shocked by the incident and the potential danger it posed. He added that it could have been more dangerous if it had occurred in a more populated area.

The owner claimed it was a manufacturing defect and demanded a replacement vehicle or a full refund. However, Mahindra is yet to release an official statement or determine the exact cause, leaving the issue unresolved at the time.

A Scorpio-N owner reported that the vehicle’s suspension broke within two weeks of purchase. The incident occurred while parking the car after a shopping trip. The owner’s wife noticed the tire at a 45-degree angle, indicating a severe suspension issue.

Following this, the owner was unable to move the vehicle, so he contacted the dealership. However, immediate assistance was unavailable due to the late hour. The next day, the dealership eventually dispatched a mechanic to temporarily fix the issue, allowing the owner to drive the vehicle to the service center.

In this particular case, Mahindra replaced several parts for free, including the front suspension, brake hose, and the front wheel that suffered scratches. However, despite these fixes, the owner remained skeptical about the vehicle’s quality, with the dealership yet to provide a detailed report on the incident.

Scorpio-N Sunroof Leakage

10 Times Mahindra Disappointed Its Buyers!

This particular case became immensely popular on social media. In this case, the owner parked his Mahindra Scorpio-N under a natural waterfall in the mountains. This then led to a significant water leakage issue. Within seconds, water started leaking into the cabin through the sunroof seals, flowing down from the speaker grilles and causing a mess.

The high pressure from the waterfall caused the seals of the sunroof to break. This allowed water to enter the vehicle’s interior. The water even reached the wiring channels, which posed a risk of electrical short circuits or even fire.

After going back and forth for many days, the company eventually did fix all of the issues related to the sunroof of this Mahindra Scorpio-N. However, it did mention that the entire fault in this case was of the car owner.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Accident and Wheel Detachment

10 Times Mahindra Disappointed Its Buyers!

A Mahindra Scorpio-N owner experienced a life-altering accident due to an alleged mechanical failure. While traveling between Pune and Nagpur with his family, the SUV’s right front wheel reportedly came off. This caused the driver to lose control and crash into a steel barricade.

This incident led to the driver losing his right leg below the knee. Prior to the accident, the owner had raised concerns about noises from the right front wheel. The service center however stated that if was due to the ABS system and dismissed as non-issues.

Following the accident, the owner accused the service center of manipulating the investigation and influencing his statement to the police. Mahindra responded by releasing a statement citing technical data that indicated the vehicle was traveling at high speeds (105-122 km/h) at the time of the crash.

They argued that the wheel detachment occurred due to the high-impact collision rather than a pre-existing defect. Despite these assertions, the owner stated that the accident was caused by mechanical failures. The case still remains open.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Fire Incident

A Mahindra Scorpio-N caught fire in Arunachal Pradesh. The owner of this car reported that he parked his one-year-old Scorpio-N 4×4 SUV outside his home when it suddenly caught fire within minutes. Prior to this, Mr. Pankaj faced multiple issues with the vehicle, including sunroof problems and a faulty battery which had been replaced recently.

On the day of the fire, the car’s AC had stopped working, which the owner suspects could be related to the fire. He highlighted that his neighbors alerted him. But by the time he arrived, the vehicle was engulfed in flames.

The dealership staff visited several times and conducted video conferences with senior officials to understand the cause of the fire. They then took the car to the service center for a detailed inspection. The owner believes that his car had a manufacturing defect, as he had encountered multiple issues since purchasing it.

Unfortunately the owner did not renew his insurance. So he could not claim any damages. The root cause of the fire could not be determined. Also Mahindra did not offer any help with a new vehicle.

Persistent Issues with a Mahindra Scorpio-N

Another Mahindra Scorpio-N owner publicly expressed his frustration with his vehicle by labeling it a “garbage bin” and the “worst car of the year.” Since purchasing the SUV in September 2022, the owner stated that he has faced a number of issues.

These included a malfunctioning central locking system, an unresponsive rear door, and the vehicle autonomously shifting to 4×4 mode while driving. Other problems include the display going dark, inconsistent speaker functionality, and delayed activation of the climate control system. The keyless entry system also occasionally fails, displaying a “key inside” error when the vehicle is locked from the outside.

Despite providing video evidence of these multiple failures, Mahindra officials have reportedly not acknowledged any problems with the car. The owner stated that he also had to deal with clutch-related issues. He stated that Mahindra has left him deeply dissatisfied and questioning the vehicle’s quality.
