Mitsubishi is a brand that many car enthusiasts in India love. Their iconic vehicles, like the Pajero, Montero, and Outlander, were once officially sold in our market. The manufacturer does not sell any of these models in India anymore; however, you can still find well-kept examples of these cars on the internet. Some enthusiasts even imported models that were never officially sold in India. One such model was the SWB version of the Pajero. We have a couple of SWB Pajeros in the country. Here, we have a video where a Pajero SWB that was scrapped by its previous owner was brought back to life and restored to showroom condition.

The video has been shared by D4D Vlogs on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger speaks to the current owner of a Pajero SWB and asks him to share the story behind this vehicle.

The owner mentions in the video that he is a Pajero fan and has owned almost 14-15 Pajeros to date. Even at the time when the video was being recorded, the owner had a Pajero Sport, a 1996 model Pajero, and this SWB.

He mentions that he learned about this vehicle from his friends. The vehicle was originally registered in Goa, and the previous owner had abandoned the car for some reason. The car was abandoned for almost 10 years, which affected its condition. It had rust issues and several mechanical problems.

Pajero restored

The owner bought the SUV and spent more money on it to get it completely restored. He mentions that restoring the mechanical parts was not a problem as it shared some of the parts with the 5-door Pajero in India.

However, the cosmetic and body panels became an issue. The owner mentioned that he used to order the parts for this SUV from Japan, which was an expensive affair.

The gearbox has been replaced, and similarly, the engine has also been rebuilt. The car had many issues, and the owner patiently attended to each of these issues and resolved them. The body has been completely reworked and restored to achieve a factory finish. The SUV is finished in a neat-looking red shade.

The owner got the SUV transferred from Goa to Kerala; however, he faced a couple of issues while getting it registered. The main issue was that the officers had no idea that a vehicle like this existed. Many thought it was a modification work where they cut the chassis of the vehicle to bring down the wheelbase.

Some of the parts on the car are from the SFX and GLX Pajero, as the owner couldn’t source the original ones. The headlamps are aftermarket by choice. The owner also tried adding the Pajero SFX’s headrests to give the interior a different look.

He also added power windows for convenience and completely restored the AC unit. The dashboard of the vehicle looks old, and sourcing a new one is an extremely hard task. This is definitely a clean-looking SUV, and the owner mentions that he doesn’t use it much as sourcing parts is very hard for this SUV.
