Vladimir Putin Drives Kim Jong Un In Russia’s Rolls Royce Rival [Video]

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently visited North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un. This is the first time a Russian president has visited North Korea in the last 24 years. Images and videos of the two leaders are surfacing online. It appears that, like any other leader, Vladimir Putin took his security officers and vehicle to North Korea during his visit. A new video has surfaced online showing Vladimir Putin taking Kim Jong Un for a ride in his Russian-built Aurus Senat luxury limousine.

The video has been making rounds on the internet. This particular one has been shared by Carchived on their Instagram page. In this post, we see both Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un inside a car, probably in North Korea, talking to each other. Interestingly, it is Vladimir Putin who is behind the steering wheel of the Aurus Senat. Usually, the President is seen in the back seat of this limousine.

As per the reports, Kim Jong Un welcomed Putin at Pyongyang’s airport. Kim later joined Putin in his car to personally guide him to Pyongyang’s Kumsusan State Guest House. The video was probably take during their drive from airport to the guest house.

Kim Jong Un is in the front passenger seat. There are security officers in the back seat to ensure both leaders’ safety during the drive. The car seen in the videos and images is special; it is Russia’s Rolls Royce rival, called the Aurus Senat.

Aurus Senat

The Aurus Senat is a very special car for Russia. It was specially designed for Vladimir Putin. Previous presidents of Russia used Mercedes and Rolls Royce cars as their official vehicles. Even Vladimir Putin used a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. In 2012, Vladimir asked the Minister of Industry and Trade to build a new car. The car they planned to build was based on a Unified Modular platform, which can accommodate different body styles other than a limousine.

The aim was to satisfy the unique requirements of the president while meeting the wants of luxury car buyers. The Aurus Senat used by Vladimir Putin has safety features like an armored body, bulletproof windows, reinforced tires, an automatic fire extinguishing system, a secure-line communication system, and more.

The Nami Institute was tasked with developing this new car. The design of the Aurus Senat may remind some of Rolls Royce cars, but the front grille was inspired by the ZIS 110, the first luxury car produced in the Soviet Union. The overall design of the Aurus Senat was, in fact, inspired by this luxury car.

After developing the car, it underwent several tests and crash tests to ensure safety. Before the Aurus Senat was chosen as the official president’s car, it had to pass tests to meet at least 60 criteria. On May 7, 2018, Vladimir Putin officially used the Aurus Senat limousine.

A civilian version of the same car is also available in the Russian market. The development of the Aurus Senat took around five years, which is quite impressive. Although we do not have specific information regarding the engine, various reports suggest the car generates around 600 bhp and that the car’s character changes according to throttle input.

Why Is Putin in North Korea?

Vladimir Putin is visiting North Korea to strengthen the ties between the two countries. He recently said that both countries need to work together and cooperate closely to overcome U.S.-led sanctions in the face of intensifying confrontations with Washington.
