However, carmakers in the country are working relentlessly to bring a whole new breed of SUVs. These new cars that are imminent have been termed the coupe SUVs. Citroën Basalt

One of the most highly anticipated coupe SUVs coming to the Indian automotive market is from the French automaker Citroën. The company, as per the reports, is gearing up to launch the new Basalt coupe SUV in India by August of this year. This SUV will sport a coupe-like design in the rear and will look like the C3 Aircross at the front.

Recently, it has been spotted testing on Indian roads. As per the reports, the company will be offering the Basalt with a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine. It could deliver around 110 PS and 190 Nm of torque and comes paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Another one of the most sought-after coupe SUVs in India is the Tata Curvv EV. Tata Motors is looking to launch the Curvv EV coupe around July-September of this year. The official dates have not been revealed. This coupe SUV will boast a lovely-looking sloping roofline design.

It will also come with premium features like full-width LED DRLs, flush door handles, and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The Curvv EV will come in multiple variants, with the top model boasting a driving range of up to 500 km.

On the inside, it will get the exact same cabin as the Tata Nexon facelift. It will get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, 360-degree camera, digital instrument gauge cluster, and potentially ADAS Level 2 features.

Alongside the Curvv EV, Tata Motors will also launch the Curvv with internal combustion engines. The ICE variants of the Tata Curvv will be launched around the end of this year. Tata Motors will be offering the Curvv ICE with diesel as well as petrol engine options.

The first will be a 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 113 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the petrol option will be a new 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine generating 123 bhp and 225 Nm of torque. The Curvv ICE will share the EV’s sleek design and interior features.

In addition to the Basalt Coupe SUV with an internal combustion engine, Citroën is also looking to launch the Basalt EV in India as well. At the moment, the exact date for the launch of the Basalt EV has not been revealed. However, it could be arriving around early 2025. From the outside, it will look pretty much the same as its petrol counterpart. Currently, the specific details about its powertrain are yet to be fully disclosed.

Mahindra XUV.e9

The country’s largest SUV maker is also gearing up to introduce coupe SUVs in the country. The first one will be Mahindra’s XUV.e9, which will be the more sporty coupe version of its upcoming electric variant of the XUV700 that we know as the XUV.e8.

Its front-end design will look similar to that of the XUV.e8. Its design elements will include a unique light bar across the front and a set of sleek LED headlights. On the inside, it will feature three large digital screens spanning the dashboard.

The XUV.e9 is expected to come with an 80 kWh battery and dual motors. As per the reports, it will offer all-wheel-drive capability and a range of around 500 km on a single full charge.

Mahindra BE.05

Another one of the Coupe SUVs from Mahindra will be its BE.05 SUV. This unique EV SUV will be based on the brand’s new INGLO EV platform. It is expected to be launched in the second half of next year. The BE.05 is expected to feature a battery between 60 and 80 kWh.

As per the reports, these could provide it a range of up to 450 km on a single charge. Additionally, the BE.05 will have a rugged version known as the BE.05 Rall-E as well.
