The American SUV manufacturer Jeep’s Indian subsidiary has slashed the pricing of the base variant of the Compass by Rs 1.7 lakh. This huge price drop has been done to make the Compass a more accessible compact SUV and lure in more buyers to the brand. The entry-level Compass Sport trim now costs Rs 1.7 lakh less. This means that it now gets a price tag of Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Now it has to be seen if it has now become a better contender against rivals like the Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV700.

New Pricing Details for Jeep Compass

Jeep India has revised the pricing for the entire Jeep Compass range. Starting off with the manual variants, the base Compass Sport is now priced at Rs 18.99 lakh, down from Rs 20.69 lakh. Interestingly, all other variants of the Jeep Compass that sit above the Sport trim have seen a price bump of Rs 14,000.

The new pricing of the Longitude variant is Rs 22.33 lakh, and for the Longitude (O) variant, it is Rs 24.83 lakh. The Night Eagle is now available at Rs 25.18 lakh. Meanwhile, the Limited (O) variant’s new price is Rs 26.33 lakh. In addition, the Black Shark variant is now Rs 26.83 lakh, and the top-spec Model S variant now costs Rs 28.33 lakh, up from Rs 28.19 lakh.

As for the automatic transmission variants, the Longitude variant is now priced at Rs 24.33 lakh, and the Longitude (O) is now Rs 26.83 lakh. On the other hand, the Night Eagle costs Rs 27.18 lakh, and the Limited (O) variant is priced at Rs 28.33 lakh.

The Compass Black Shark AT is priced at Rs 28.83 lakh. Meanwhile, the Model S variant is now Rs 30.33 lakh. Finally, the top-spec Model S 4×4 variant, which is the only one offering 4×4 capabilities, is now priced at Rs 32.41 lakh.

The Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Diesel 5-seater manual transmission variant is priced competitively at Rs 18.29 lakh (ex-showroom). Comparing the base variant of the Jeep Compass with this specific model reveals several distinctions. The Jeep Compass Sport is priced at Rs 18.99 lakh.

In terms of powertrain, the Compass comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 170 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. It comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. It features a touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, and multiple airbags.

On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Diesel is priced at Rs 18.29 lakh. It comes equipped with a more powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine delivering 185 bhp and 420 Nm of torque. It also comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This model boasts a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Jeep Compass Sport Vs Tata Harrier Pure Plus

The Tata Harrier Pure Plus is another strong contender in this segment. This variant of the Tata Safari is approximately priced at Rs 18.69 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes equipped with the exact same engine, which is the 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 170 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. This variant comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

This Pure Plus trim of the Harrier comes with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual zone automatic AC, digital instrument gauge cluster and a ton of others. Comparing this with the Jeep Compass Sport, which is slightly more expensive the Compass still offers fewer premium features compared to the Harrier.
