Remember the Bigster Concept that Renault showcased a few years ago? It was actually a larger version of the popular Duster 5-seater SUV. It looks like Renault has now started working on the Bigster SUV. A test mule of the upcoming Renault Bigster was recently spotted testing in Spain. The new images reveal more details about the upcoming SUV from the French car manufacturer.
The images seen here were shared by Motor.es on their website. The test mule was probably spotted in Spain. Coming to the details, the design of the Bigster SUV looks very similar to the Duster. It is, in fact, based on the Duster, and we are not surprised that the manufacturer chose a similar styling.
The test mule seen here gets a Dacia Duster-like front grille with sleek-looking headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. The front grille has dotted silver accents which give it a clean look. The lower air dam is bigger than the grille, just like the Duster. We can see air curtains and fog lamps on the bumper too.
The SUV seen here is actually a 7-seater and will be launched as the Dacia Bigster. It would be rebadged or named the Renault Bigster at a later stage. There are reports that suggest some markets would also get a 5-seater version of this SUV with an extremely large boot. The spy pictures reveal the front end and side profile of the SUV.
The design of the alloy wheels looks different, and similarly, the rear doors on this SUV look bigger too. This must have been done intentionally to access the third-row seats without much issue. The Bigster is based on the same CMF-B platform as the Duster. The Bigster will be 300 mm longer than the Duster. There is no clarity on whether the Bigster comes with a longer wheelbase or is simply an extended version of the Duster.
It is definitely going to be priced above the Duster, and in order to justify the price tag, Renault will offer more features with the 7-seater SUV. The spy pics give us a glimpse of the cabin too. We see an electrically adjustable driver seat, multi-function steering wheel, driver-centric touchscreen infotainment system and other controls, fully digital instrument cluster, and so on. The design looks similar to the Duster. We hope Renault or Dacia makes necessary changes to justify the premium.
Engine
Renault or Dacia has not said anything about the engine or transmission options on the Bigster. However, we expect it to borrow the engine from the Duster. The Renault Duster is offered with three engine options internationally.
There is a 1.6-liter petrol hybrid, a 1.2-liter turbo petrol with a mild hybrid, and a 1.0-liter petrol engine with LPG for some markets. The Duster is available with both front-wheel and AWD drive options. It looks like the Renault Bigster would also get the AWD feature.
Renault Duster
When compared to the Dacia Duster, the Renault Duster has minor cosmetic changes. The SUV has been launched in international markets and is expected to come to the Indian market sometime in 2025. The upcoming Renault Bigster SUV is expected to come to the Indian market after the launch of the Duster.
