Curvv.EV Getting Chinese Batteries Soon

Recent reports say that Tata Motors will soon start sourcing its EV batteries from the Chinese company Octillion Power Systems. The move comes as part of its efforts to diversify its supplier base and solve supply chain issues. Currently, both the 45 kWh and 55 kWh battery packs on the Curvv.EV are sourced from within the group- Tata AutoComp Systems. In the future, however, Octillion will supply the smaller battery. The 55 kWh unit, comprising prismatic cells will continue to be supplied by Tata Autocomp. Curvv.EV will be the first model to get these new Chinese batteries.

Octillion is a big name in the energy solutions space. Tata’s association with them is expected to improve the entire EV range- particularly the Nexon, Punch and Curvv- and solve issues like the HV error and sudden charge drops. The new battery packs are also poised to offer more longevity and reliability.
