Tata Safari Storme 4X4 SUV Shows Off Its Capabilities Off The Road [Video]

When it comes to off-road SUVs in India, the most popular names are Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Mahindra Thar. However, full-size ladder-on-frame SUVs like the Tata Safari and Toyota Fortuner are also very capable off-road vehicles. Recently, a video has been shared online showcasing how capable the old Safari Storme 4X4 is. This particular Safari Storme attempted an obstacle that many fellow drivers thought it would not be able to cross. The video also shows the Safari Storme overcoming a few other off-road obstacles as well.

The video of this particular Tata Safari 4X4 engaging in proper off-roading has been shared on YouTube by Small Town Rider on their channel. It starts with the presenter explaining that he, along with his friends, will be going to an off-road location and will perform off-roading in their respective SUVs.

He then shows the convoy of cars they took, including the vlogger’s Maruti Suzuki Jimny, his friend’s Toyota Fortuner 4X4 type 1 with modifications, Tata Safari Storme 4X4, Toyota Fortuner 4X4 stock, a new Toyota Fortuner, and a few other SUVs.

Off-road obstacle

Following this, the vlogger then shows him and his friends reaching the location for their adventure, where they start doing some light off-roading. Soon after this, some of the vlogger’s friends spotted a deep pit with a very steep decline and a sloping incline.

They first discussed trying to cross this obstacle with the Jimny as it is the lightest vehicle in the convoy, making recovery easier. After this, they attempt the obstacle and succeed.

Tata Safari Storme 4X4’s off-road capabilities

Soon after this, one of the vlogger’s friends who came with his Tata Safari Storme 4X4 attempted the obstacle. It initially seemed like the Safari would not be able to cross it due to its weight and stock bumper. However, the driver does not give up, and with the help of his friends, he comes out of it.

The Safari Storme, at the time of coming out, had its bumper and its left front fender flare pop out of place. However, despite this, the Safari managed to pull itself out of the deep pit. Soon after this, the lifted and modified Toyota Fortuner 4X4 also attempted this obstacle and succeeded.

Other obstacles

After performing this obstacle, the group found another obstacle, a steep slope. This was first attempted by the modified Fortuner, and it easily moved down the slope. However, when the Safari Storme came for its turn, people speculated that its bumper would hit the ground and come off.

Despite this doubt, the Safari Storme 4X4 managed to overcome this obstacle. The Jimny also cleared this obstacle without any hesitation. The Safari Storme then also made the climb back on this obstacle without any problem.

Safari Storme 4X4

The Tata Safari Storme 4X4 was a proper ladder-on-frame chassis SUV with a very capable 4-wheel drive system. It came powered by a 2.2-litre Varicor diesel engine that produced a maximum power of 148 bhp and 320 Nm of torque.

It came mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. There was also a more powerful Varicor 400 variant that produced 154 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. This variant came equipped with a six-speed manual transmission.
