Citroen C3 Aircross launched; Cheaper than Kia Seltos and others

The starting price of the Citroen C3 Aircross (Rs 9.99 lakh) is lower than that of all its rivals, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, and Honda Elevate. All these rival SUVs have a starting price above the Rs 10.50 lakh mark for their base-spec variants, which come with a more sophisticated equipment list even in their base-spec configurations.

Currently, Citroen has disclosed the price for the base-spec You variant and is accepting bookings for all three variants with a token amount of Rs 25,000. Deliveries of the C3 Aircross will commence on October 15th, so the prices for the Plus and Max variants are expected to be announced on or before that date.

The base-spec Citroen C3 Aircross You variant offers only essential features and is available as a five-seater SUV. This variant does not include premium features such as roof-mounted AC vents, a touchscreen infotainment system, speakers, reverse camera, rear wiper defogger, and USB charging slots, which are offered in the Max variant. However, it does come equipped with safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, electronic stability control, reverse parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

In terms of exterior design, the Citroen C3 Aircross continues the design language introduced in the C3 hatchback, featuring the brand’s Chevron logo integrated into the front chrome grille. While it does not have LED headlamps and uses a conventional halogen setup for the front lights, it does feature daytime running LED strips, as seen in the C3 hatchback. The SUV also includes pull-type door handles and LED tail lamps connected by a black strip across the boot lid.

In the higher variants, the C3 Aircross comes with fog lamps integrated into the air intake housing on the front bumper and 17-inch Quadratic alloy wheels. The cabin of the higher variants boasts a 7-inch TFT instrument console, steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls, a front center armrest attached to the driver’s seat, and six speakers for the audio system.

The only engine option offered in the Citroen C3 Aircross is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, shared with the C3 hatchback. This engine is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, delivering 110 PS of maximum power and 190 Nm of maximum torque. A 6-speed torque converter is expected to join the C3 Aircross lineup at a later stage.
