Fardeen Khan, who was a popular Bollywood actor of yesteryear, was recently spotted in a very unusual car. He was spotted arriving at the airport in a Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV.
Fardeen Khan became the first Bollywood celebrity to buy a brand-new Maruti Suzuki Jimny 4X4. We have seen Bollywood celebs buying brand-new expensive cars in the past, but this is the first time we are seeing a celeb in a Jimny. The video has been shared by Voompla on their Instagram page. In this video, the actor is seen getting out of the driver’s side of the SUV and walking towards the entry gate of the airport.
He does pose for a couple of pictures and videos before walking in. Fardeen Khan is known for his work mainly in the Hindi film industry. The actor made his debut in 1998 (Prem Aggan) for which he won the Filmfare award for Best Male Debut actor. Fardeen has acted in almost 30 movies before taking a break in 2010.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny was one of the most awaited products by many off-roading enthusiasts in India. However, due to its steep pricing, many people lost interest. Maruti even designed a 5-door version of the Jimny as they thought that the 3-door version was not practical for the customers.
At the time of the launch, they had mentioned that they are not aiming to sell the Jimny in huge numbers like other models from Maruti; however, we feel if Maruti had priced it a bit competitively, they could have easily achieved good numbers. In February, Maruti only sold 322 units of the Maruti Jimny, which is probably the lowest in the entire Maruti line-up.
The Suzuki Jimny is an extremely popular off-road SUV globally. The SUV is popular among enthusiasts for its lightweight body and smaller dimensions. The combination of these two with a proper 4×4 system makes it extremely capable off-road.
The demand for this SUV was so high that Maruti started manufacturing the SUV in India after Japan. It should be noted that traditionally, the Jimny was a three-door SUV. In order to make it more practical, a 5-door version was developed.
We (India) were the first ones to get the 5-door version, and now the SUV is getting exported to other countries from India. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated K15B series engine. This is the same engine that is seen in the 3-door version. The SUV generates 103 Bhp and 136 Nm of peak torque. The SUV is available with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission option.
The price for a brand-new Maruti Jimny starts at Rs 12.74 lakh, ex-showroom, and goes up to Rs 14.95 lakh, ex-showroom. Maruti did offer some discounts on the Jimny for a short period. Maruti Jimny competes with cars like the Mahindra Thar in the segment.
