Rumours of Ford Making comeback to Indian market has been a talking point on internet for the last couple of weeks. There are rumours the car would be American car manufacturer would be launching the Endeavour SUV in India. We now have another report that suggests that Ford is planning to launch more models including an SUV that would rival with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara in the segment. The car maker has now patented a new design and from the images it doesn’t look like any other product that is available in the international markets.
The leaked patent design image of the upcoming SUV has been shared by motorbeam on their website. As per the report, the design of the upcoming SUV looks similar to the prototype that was spotted back in 2020. Especially the front end. This is the same model that was rumoured to be developed with Mahindra. We all know that the partnership didn’t go as per the plan and soon after that Ford left Indian market. However it looks like with their plans to return to India, they might launch this new SUV too. However this time, Ford will be developing this SUV themselves and would be equipping the SUV with their own engine options.
From the leaked images, we can see that the SUV gets a large front grille. We can also see the fire logo in the center. The SUV’s front grille extents to meet the sleek looking LED DRLs (probably dual-function units). The bumper of the SUV gets a muscular design with vertically stacked headlamps. The lower airdam has a small plastic portion which looks like the radar for ADAS feature.
The leaked image doesn’t show any sunroof but we feel that the production version will get it. We get to see other elements like the thick black cladding on the lower body panel all around the car. We also get a glimpse of the multi spoke alloy wheels. Unlike most SUVs that we have in the market at the moment this one gets a round wheel arch. The image doesn’t show the rear however we expect Ford to do a good job here as well.
When it comes to the features, the upcoming SUV from Ford is expected to get modern features like touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charger, 360 degree camera, ventilated seats, leatherette upholstery and so on. While Ford would be better offering their own engine with the upcoming SUV, it needs to be seen if the manufacturer will offer a diesel engine or not. Many manufacturers like Skoda, Volkswagen have completely stopped producing diesel engines due to stringent emission norms and the cost of development.
We already know that Ford has patented the all-new Endeavour in India. The SUV will directly rival with the likes of Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. It would sold as a CBU which means it is going to be an expensive car to buy. Ford would also launch their Mach-E electric crossover in India.
