Honda’s all-new midsize SUV is all set to be launched in the Indian market. The Elevate was unveiled to the public last month, and details regarding the upcoming SUV are also available online. Honda dealerships across the country have recently started accepting bookings for the upcoming Elevate SUV. The Honda Elevate will compete with cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun in the segment. The SUV is expected to be launched in September this year, and deliveries for the same are also expected to begin at the same time. Before the official launch of the Honda Elevate, here is what we know so far about the upcoming Honda Elevate SUV.

Platform

The Honda Elevate is going to be a global SUV with a strong preference for the Indian audience. It is actually based on the same platform as the City, which is a popular sedan from the Japanese car maker. By adopting an existing platform, Honda has successfully managed to bring down the development cost of this new SUV. This would also help them in putting a very competitive price tag on the Elevate SUV.

Design

The exterior design of the Elevate is unmistakably Honda. It gets a thick front nose covered in chrome. The chrome strip extends to meet the headlamps. The headlamps are sleek-looking LED projector units with dual-function LED DRLs. Below the chrome strip is a large front grille with gloss black inserts in it. There is a Honda logo in the center of the grille. The muscular-looking bumper has a faux skid plate and LED fog lamps too. The SUV gets a boxy design with rugged-looking cladding all around. The 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and LED tail lamps all give it a premium look. Honda Elevate is 4,312 mm long, 1,790 mm wide, and 1,690 mm tall. This SUV has a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. It offers 220 mm of ground clearance.

Honda will be offering a premium-looking cabin with the upcoming Elevate SUV. The higher variants of the SUV will be offered with a dual-tone black and brown leather upholstery. The cabin also comes with satin silver and faux wooden inserts. The instrument cluster is a semi-digital unit with a 7-inch TFT screen, and other than this, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will get an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, push-button start/stop, and so on.

Variants & Safety Features

Elevate structural rigidity

Honda is expected to launch the upcoming Elevate SUV in 4 variants. There will be the SV as the base variant, V, VX, and ZX above it. ZX will be the top-end variant. Honda is claiming a strong structural build for the upcoming SUV. They have used high-strength material for the shell to resist deformation in case of an accident. Honda claims that it would also improve the overall performance and stability of the vehicle. Honda also offers features like 6 airbags, ABS, EBD. Honda will be offering 10 exterior paint shades for the new Elevate SUV. The entry level SV variant would get 16 inch steel rims, automatic climate control and dual-font airbags.

ADAS

Honda Sensing in Elevate

Honda Sensing or ADAS features, as we know it, is also being offered with the upcoming Elevate SUV. This feature offers a collision mitigation braking system, road departure mitigation system, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, auto high beam, and lead car departure mitigation system. These features are being offered to make the driving experience a lot safer. This is a driver assistance system and not an autonomous driving system.

Fuel Efficiency

Honda Elevate will be offered with a petrol engine only. Unlike some other Honda models, it does not get a strong hybrid system. Honda recently revealed the fuel efficiency figures for the upcoming SUV. The Manual version of the Elevate has a claimed fuel economy of 15.31 Kmpl, whereas the CVT option is said to return 16.92 kmpl.

Engine & Transmission

Elevate engine CVT

Honda Elevate will be offered with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine only. This engine generates 121 Ps and 150 Nm of peak torque. As mentioned above, there is no strong hybrid variant available with this SUV. This 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine is available with a 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox option. Depending on the response that Elevate gets in the market, Honda might also introduce an electric version of Elevate in the future.

Price

Elevate engine MT

Honda is expected to price the Honda Elevate competitively. As per the reports available online, the base variant of the Elevate will start at Rs 11 lakh, and the price of the top-end model will go up to 19 lakh.
