Hyundai Creta Sales More Than Double That Of Maruti Grand Vitara

The Hyundai Creta has once again cemented its name as the best-selling compact SUV in India, as per the recently revealed sales figures for April 2024. Hyundai has sold 15,447 units of Creta in the country. The most impressive part about this sales figure is that it is double when compared to the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara sales. The Grand Vitara sales stood at 7,651 units.

2024 Hyundai Creta: April Sales Analysis

As stated above, Hyundai India has reported that it managed to dispatch a total of 15,447 units of Creta in April this year. Now when compared to the month of March, the sales saw a decline of 6.4 percent. However, despite this, it managed to hold onto the top position.

Currently, the Hyundai Creta has a market share of 39.76 percent, which is the largest market share in the fiercely competitive compact SUV segment. The overall market share of Creta, however, has come down as it was 45.31 percent last year. Additionally, the average monthly sales of Hyundai Creta stand at an impressive 13,180 units.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: April Sales Analysis

When compared to the segment leader, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara took the second spot on the bestsellers list. The company managed to sell a total of 7,651 units. This is nearly half the sales of the Hyundai Creta. Last month its sales stood at 11,233 units.

The overall month-on-month sales declined by 31.88 percent. At present, the market share held by Grand Vitara is 19.69 percent. This too has come down by 5.04 percent as it was 24.73 percent last year. Lastly, its monthly sales average is around 13,180 units.

Why is the Hyundai Creta so popular in India?

The Hyundai Creta, as we all know, has been the segment champion for an extremely long period of time. This compact SUV has gained immense popularity in India, and there is not one but multiple reasons behind it being the best-selling SUV in its segment.

Multiple drivetrain options

There is a Hyundai Creta for every type of driver and their needs in India. The company offers it with multiple drivetrain options including a 1.5-litre petrol that makes 113 bhp and 144 Nm of torque. It also gets 1.5-litre diesel that makes 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.

Lastly, there is also a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol that makes 158 bhp and 253 Nm of torque. There are 6-speed manual transmission is standard across all variants but the petrol variant gets the option of IVT. The diesel gets the option of a 6-speed automatic and lastly, the turbo petrol gets a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Buyers who want the Creta for the city can opt for IVT naturally aspirated petrol engine. Meanwhile, people who primarily drive on highways can buy the diesel or turbo petrol. Also, enthusiasts can opt for the turbo petrol variant. Lastly, those on a budget can go for the petrol variant with the manual transmission.

Constant refreshes

The company does not let the Creta become dull in the Indian market. It regularly introduces new variants, new facelifts, and also unique iterations like the N-Line. This keeps new buyers interested in this already popular compact SUV. Most likely, it will continue to remain the segment champion for the foreseeable future.
