After the launch of the XUV 3XO, the next big release from Indian SUV manufacturer Mahindra is the Thar 5-door. The SUV has been spotted testing on our roads several times. Recently, we have seen several videos and images of the production-ready version of the SUV. Now, we have a new set of images that give us a clear view of the interior of the Mahindra Thar 5-door.
The newly leaked images of the Mahindra Thar 5-door have been shared by Motor Octane on their website. In these images, we see the driver’s cabin and the second-row seats of the Mahindra Thar. What sets these images apart from the ones that have leaked online before is that the cabin is completely undisguised.
The driver’s cabin of the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door looks similar to the 3-door version; however, there are a few noticeable changes. The touchscreen infotainment system on the center console is larger than the one seen in the 3-door version. It looks like the lower section of the dashboard is finished in brown or has a faux wood finish.
The upper portion is finished in black. It is quite possible that this is a color option in the test mule, and the production version might have an all-black theme. The steering wheel on the Mahindra Thar 5-door also looks different from the 3-door version. It is, in fact, similar to the one that we recently saw in the XUV 3XO.
Just below the touchscreen infotainment system are the circular AC vents and buttons for the climate control. Below that, you have toggle switches and dummy buttons for various functions in the car. There is a manual handbrake, and the car seen here is the manual version. The roofline is finished in a lighter shade, and we see speakers integrated with the roof liner. There is also an electric sunroof with the Mahindra Thar 5-door.
It is placed in such a way that passengers in the second-row seat can enjoy the view better. The third image shows the second-row seat. Here we see bench-type seats for passengers with a 3-pointer seatbelt. There is a dedicated AC vent for the rear passenger, and an armrest for the driver and co-passenger can also be seen here.
We currently see Thar branding on the door trims saying “Thar.” There are rumors suggesting that the Mahindra Thar 5-door will be called the Armada. We cannot confirm this at the moment. The seats on the Mahindra 5-door look similar to the 3-door version with a mix of fabric and leatherette material. As of now, there is no clarity on whether Mahindra will offer the Thar 5-door with a third row of seats or not.
The Mahindra Thar 5-door will have a similar styling to the 3-door. The SUV will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version will use a 2.0-liter, turbocharged mStallion engine. The diesel version will use a 2.2-liter turbocharged mHawk engine.
Both petrol and diesel engine options will be offered with manual and automatic transmission options. The SUV will be offered in both 4×4 and 4×2 versions. The launch for the Mahindra Thar 5-door is expected to happen in the coming months.
