The comparison between the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Mahindra Thar has been one of the most heated topics in recent months, as the country’s largest carmaker recently launched its highly anticipated model. Numerous people have shared their reviews of both cars and compared them in videos. However, an owner who happens to own both cars at the same time has now given his brutally honest opinions on both models. The owner had previously purchased a Mahindra Thar and recently took delivery of the Jimny as well.

The honest review of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny by the Mahindra Thar owner has been shared on YouTube by Harsh NCR on their channel. The video begins with an introduction of the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Jimny, along with the owner of both cars. The presenter starts the video by asking the owner about the rumors that the Maruti Suzuki will not be able to compete with the Thar and will eventually fail. In response, the owner of both cars states that he does not believe the same. He asserts that the Jimny is a good vehicle with its 1500 cc engine, 4×4 system, lightweight, and practicality, and believes it will perform well in the Indian market.

Following this, the presenter asks the owner about the price and model details of both cars. The owner replies that the on-road price of the Mahindra Thar was around Rs 18.90 lakh, and he purchased it last year. He adds that the Jimny cost him Rs 17.30 lakh, and he received delivery of his Jimny last week. Moreover, he mentions that both cars are top variants of their respective models and are equipped with 4×4 systems. Additionally, the owner clarifies that the Thar is the diesel variant, while the Jimny is petrol.

Moving on in the video, the presenter asks the owner why he purchased the Jimny when he already owned the Thar. The owner replies that he bought the Jimny solely out of love and as a hobby. He states that he doesn’t have any specific utility for the Jimny; he simply liked the car, so he bought it. The presenter then asks the owner about the positives and negatives of both cars, to which the owner responds that the Mahindra Thar has a very small boot space, whereas the Jimny offers a much larger one.

He adds that the Thar is the three-door version, so it is not that practical, while the Jimny provides much more daily usable practicality with its five-door setup. Speaking of the positives of the Thar, he mentions that it has a larger engine and offers a smoother ride. However, he adds that the Jimny is no slouch either and feels very zippy. Regarding the negatives of the Jimny, the owner mentions that the company has provided very narrow wheels, and overall, it appears smaller than the Thar from the outside. He also notes that the Jimny is shorter in terms of height compared to the Thar.

Next, the owner reveals that both SUVs provide a mileage of 12 kmpl. He then states that in terms of safety, the Thar feels safer, while the Jimny, being a Maruti Suzuki, seems slightly less safe. As for the interior, the owner remarks that the Mahindra Thar feels a little rough around the edges, whereas the Jimny feels slightly more luxurious than the Thar.
