Mahindra is all set to launch a new, more affordable variant of its popular XUV700 SUV – the XUV700 MX Petrol Automatic. This new variant is expected to hit the market in the coming weeks, making the XUV700 more accessible to a wider range of buyers.
The XUV700 MX is currently available in a manual transmission only. The new automatic variant will address the demand for an automatic transmission option in the XUV700 MX, which is currently the most affordable variant in the XUV700 lineup.
The Mahindra XUV700 MX Petrol Automatic is expected to be priced around Rs 15.80 lakh, making it significantly more affordable than the other automatic variants of the XUV700. This competitive price tag is likely to position the XUV700 MX Petrol Automatic as a strong contender in the mid-size SUV segment.
The new variant is expected to retain most of the features of the existing XUV700 MX, including an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, power windows, and a reverse parking camera. However, it may miss out on some of the more premium features offered on the higher-end variants, such as a sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and dual-zone climate control.
Under the hood, the XUV700 MX Petrol Automatic is expected to be powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine that powers the other petrol variants of the XUV700. This engine produces 200hp of power and 320Nm of torque, and is mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The XUV700 gets a bunch of updates this year. The most notable improvements are ventilated seats, new connected car features and over the air (OTA) updates for software. There are also some visual updates such as dark chrome finishes on air vents and central console, and a dual tone color option on some variants. The base variant of the 2024 Mahindra XUV700 costs Rs 13.99 lakhs, while the top end variant is some Rs 10 lakhs higher, at Rs 23.99 lakhs! The company is working hard on reducing the waiting periods, but as per our information, it is yet to result in significantly lower wait times.
