As per a new update, the combined daily bookings for Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx and Baleno have reached an impressive 1,250, marking a significant demand for these popular models. This revelation comes from a senior official at Maruti Suzuki, shedding light on the evolving trends in the Indian automotive market. The Fronx, introduced in India in April, has been making waves with nearly 550 daily bookings. This compact crossover based on the Baleno has garnered attention for its features and performance, attracting a substantial customer base.

Meanwhile, the Baleno, a longstanding favorite among Indian car enthusiasts, has seen a slight dip in daily bookings. Prior to the Fronx’s arrival, it was securing approximately 830 bookings daily. However, after the Fronx’s launch, the daily bookings for the Baleno have declined to around 700.

Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer of Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki India, provided insights into this shift in booking patterns.

We have studied whether the introduction of the Fronx has affected the Baleno. Every day we used to get about 830 bookings for the Baleno before the Fronx came in. After the launch of the Fronx, the daily bookings for the Baleno have dropped to 700. But the Fronx has gone up to 550.

When looking at the combined daily bookings for both models, the figure stands at an impressive 1,250. This cumulative demand showcases the continued appeal of Maruti Suzuki vehicles in the Indian market, even though the Baleno has witnessed a slight individual decline in bookings.

The Fronx has made a significant impact on Maruti’s overall performance, contributing to the company’s rise to the top of the SUV segment, surpassing competitors like Mahindra in FY24. Sold through Maruti’s Nexa channel, the Fronx competes with popular models like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet.

The Fronx offers two engine options, including a 1.2-liter Dual-Jet Dual-VVT petrol engine and a 1.0-liter Turbo Boosterjet petrol engine, catering to diverse customer preferences. It is available in five variants, each offering a range of features to suit different needs.

As the Fronx and Baleno continue to make their mark in the Indian automotive landscape, Maruti Suzuki remains a dominant player, showcasing its commitment to delivering high-quality vehicles that resonate with Indian consumers. Maruti won’t mind the Fronx cannibalizing the Baleno’s sales as the customer is still in the NEXA fold. Moreover, the Fronx’s introduction has only served to increase overall sales of the two vehicles.
