Maruti Brezza Beats Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet: Retakes Best Selling Compact SUV Crown

Maruti Suzuki’s sub-compact SUV, Brezza, has once again captured the throne of best-selling SUV in its segment. The sales figures from February 2024 reveal that Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 15,765 units of the Brezza in the country, beating all other popular sub-compact SUVs. The list includes the likes of the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza Sales Figures

Diving into the details of the sales of the Brezza, Maruti Suzuki dispatched a total of 15,765 units of the sub-4 meter compact SUV. Compared to last year’s sales of this model in the same month, it saw a very small decline of 0.1 percent.

However, on a month-on-month basis, it managed to post an increase of 3 percent. In January 2024, Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 15,303 units of the Brezza. In the last six months, the Brezza has been selling at an average of 14,726 units per month.

Tata Nexon and Other Rivals’ Sales Statistics

Coming to the sales statistics of Maruti Suzuki Brezza’s competition, the first car on this list is the Tata Nexon. Tata Motors in February of this year managed to sell 14,395 units. Back in January of this year, it had an exceptional month of sales, with the company dispatching around 17,182 units. Because of this, Tata Motors saw a month-on-month sales decline of 16.2 percent.

Looking at other rivals of the Brezza, the Hyundai Venue managed to get a sales figure of 8,933 units in February. During this same month, Hyundai Venue’s cousin, Kia Sonet, posted a sales tally of 9,102 units. As for the Mahindra XUV300, it managed to secure only 4,218 buyers in February.

Why is the Maruti Brezza so Popular?

Over the last few years, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza has maintained its position as the top seller in its segment. It gets dethroned once in a while by the Tata Nexon. However, in most parts, it remains as the top contender. Now, there are a few reasons behind this, and following are those reasons.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza enjoys such a huge fan following in the country because of its value-for-money pricing. The SUV is priced between Rs 8.29 lakh and Rs 14.14 lakh. For the price, it gets plenty of features.

There is one interesting thing to note about the Brezza, and that is despite being only offered with petrol and CNG drivetrain options, it still has won the hearts of many Indians. This SUV does not get any fancy electric powertrain, a turbo petrol or even a diesel motor. But because of its value proposition and other benefits that it offers, it has become the best-selling sub-compact SUV.

Fuel-efficient Powertrains

Despite being only offered with a petrol motor, the car still offers a best-in-class claimed mileage of 18.76 kmpl. Notably, it became the first in its segment to offer CNG fuel options, boasting a fuel efficiency of 25.51 km/kg. It also has to be noted that the Brezza is the only sub-4m SUV to offer an automatic transmission with a CNG powerplant.

Muscular Road Presence

From the outside, the Brezza looks distinctly like an SUV. Its flat bonnet, boxy design language, prominent wheel arches, along with muscular bumper, and sleek headlamps add to its SUV stance. Unlike other SUVs of its segment, it looks a lot bigger and has a better road presence.

Feature-loaded

Maruti Suzuki has equipped the Brezza with a host of features. It gets features such as a 9-inch SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Navigation, and voice commands. Additional features include an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, 360-degree camera, steering-mounted controls, automatic climate control, automatic headlights, and wipers.

It also gets electrically adjustable and foldable outside rearview mirrors, LED projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps, LED taillamps, push-button start/stop, cruise control, and more. This comprehensive feature set emphasizes convenience and assistance.
