Maruti Grand Vitara owner explains why he bought SUV over Hyundai Creta/Kia Seltos [Video]

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, after staying out of the mid-size segment for a while, finally made its comeback in September 2022 by launching its first proper mid-size SUV, the Grand Vitara. Soon after entering the fiercely competitive mid-size SUV segment, it managed to earn a significant reputation for itself and has become the third most popular SUV in its segment. Recently, an owner of a Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara explained in a video why he chose this SUV over the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

The video of the owner’s review of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has been shared on YouTube by Yadvender Chauhan on their channel. It starts with the introduction of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and its owner. He states that the Grand Vitara comes from the factory with three drivetrain options: a smart hybrid, a strong hybrid, and a CNG drivetrain. The particular car featured in the video is a smart hybrid model.

Following this, the presenter introduces the owner of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and asks him about the details of his vehicle. The owner explains that it is the second top Zeta variant of the Grand Vitara, finished in the newly introduced black color. He adds that this particular model is the smart hybrid version and misses out only on the 360-degree camera and panoramic sunroof.

Why did he choose Grand Vitara over Creta/Seltos?

After the introduction, the presenter asks the owner of the vehicle why he chose this model over the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The owner then explains that he chose it because, in his opinion, it looks and appears bulkier and larger than the other two models. He also stated that the Creta and Seltos are very common, and he wanted something unique and more premium-looking, so he went with the Grand Vitara. Additionally, he added that with the smart hybrid powertrain, the Grand Vitara offers better mileage. He explained that in the city, he gets around 14-15 kmpl, and on the highway, he easily achieves 23 kmpl mileage. He added that for the strong hybrid model, the Grand Vitara offers an impressive 35 kmpl mileage according to the company. However, in reality, it achieves a respectable 25-30 kmpl, he added.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara engine options

Following this, the presenter adds that the smart hybrid Grand Vitara is powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine can produce around 101 bhp of power and 136 Nm of torque. It also comes with a mild hybrid system and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, with a 6-speed automatic transmission also available.

Additionally, there is a strong hybrid powertrain option offered by the brand. This drivetrain combines the 1.5-liter 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with a strong hybrid system. Overall, this powertrain generates around 91 bhp of power and 122 Nm of torque. It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission option and a CVT transmission option as well.
