Maruti Jimny owner drives through one of the world’s most deadliest roads: Here’s how it fared [Video]

Jimny going off-road

Maruti Jimny was one of the most awaited 4×4 SUVs from an Indian car manufacturer this year. We were the first ones to receive the 5-door version of the Jimny. The deliveries have already started, and several different types of videos related to the Jimny 5-door are available online. We have seen people modify the SUV and even take such SUVs off-road. However, here we have a video where a Jimny owner takes his SUV through difficult and narrow mountain roads to drive the SUV in the snow. How did it perform? Let’s check the video.

The video has been shared by Small Town Rider on his YouTube channel. The vlogger stated his journey from Jammu with his friend in his Jimny. The SUV got minor modifications like RT tires and a matte green-colored wrap. The duo started their journey, and their aim was to reach Sach Pass, which is close to 4,500 meters above sea level. Initially, when they started, the roads were slightly wider; however, as they went ahead, it became narrower, and the road, at places, only had a gap to pass one vehicle at a time.

At one spot, they stopped to see how a Force Traxx used by locals to commute climbed up a slippery surface. It took the driver some time to climb up as the vehicle he was driving didn’t come with 4×4. The Jimny, on the other hand, didn’t require 4×4 as the tires themselves had enough grip. The SUV was performing pretty well, and at a point, they were forced to take a diversion. The road they were supposed to go on was one of the deadliest roads in the world, and it is known as the cliff hanger road. This was closed due to some reason, and a diversion was created.

They took the diversion, which was a longer route and was once again extremely narrow. They reached a point where some construction was going on, and they had to drive really close to the edge of the cliff. The SUV, with its smaller dimensions, proved to be useful in this case. They could drive the SUV through almost anywhere in 4L. The SUV was easily crawling up the steep section without much effort. As this is a petrol vehicle, it didn’t have other issues while climbing altitude too. After a long drive, they did reach Sach Pass finally. On their way, they also spotted snow on top of many mountains; however, they could not witness snowfall on Sach Pass.

Winter has started in many mountain parts, and some areas even experienced the first snowfall of the season. On their way back, the Jimny’s instrument cluster even gave a notification asking the driver to be careful as there might be snow on the road. Fortunately, they did not find any snow on the road and reached back to a hotel for their stay at night. The Jimny performed effortlessly in these conditions, and the owner was actually impressed with the overall performance. The trails were extremely narrow and dangerous, but the SUV performed well. This video also shows how important a good set of tires is while going for such expeditions.
