The newest lifestyle off-roader, the Jimny from Maruti Suzuki, has become extremely popular in a very short span of time. People who are interested in getting one are searching for every bit of information available online. Taking advantage of this demand for Jimny videos, a YouTuber recently performed another performance test on this popular SUV, specifically a top speed test. The YouTuber took his new Maruti Suzuki Jimny to a highway and tested the car’s top speed and high-speed dynamics, sharing the video on his channel.

The video of the top speed test of the all-new Maruti Suzuki Jimny has been shared on YouTube by MRD Cars on their channel. The video starts with the presenter mentioning that he is currently at the Sohna Expressway and will be heading towards the Mumbai Expressway to test the Jimny’s top speed on that road. He begins the run and states that the Jimny reaches 50 kmph in the first gear. He adds that it makes quite a bit of noise for being in first gear and reaching only 50 kmph.

The presenter then mentions that it hits 90 kmph in second gear and continues to reach around 120 kmph in the third gear. After that, he accelerates the car to 140 kmph in fourth gear and finally reaches the top speed of 155 kmph in fifth gear. Continuing at a speed of around 150 kmph, the presenter mentions that although there is a lot of cabin noise, the car remains stable and, despite being an SUV, doesn’t have excessive body roll, instilling confidence. He notes that at these speeds, its direct rival, the Mahindra Thar, starts to wobble and lose confidence.

Next, the presenter slows down to around 100 kmph and mentions that although the Jimny can reach 155 kmph, it should not be driven at that speed due to the excessive cabin noise. He advises keeping the speed around 100 kmph instead. He also adds that maintaining a speed around 100 kmph will help increase the mileage. Higher speeds are likely to result in lower mileage. Additionally, it is important to note that attempting top speed runs on public highways can have dangerous outcomes if things go wrong. Moreover, the YouTuber conducted this top-speed test on a rainy day, which is also not recommended.

The Indo-Japanese carmaker offers the Jimny with a single powertrain option: a 1.5-liter four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. This engine delivers a maximum power output of 104.8 PS and a maximum torque output of 134.2 Nm. The manual variants claim a fuel efficiency of 16.94 kmpl, while the automatic versions promise 16.39 kmpl. Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro four-wheel-drive system comes standard across all variants.
