The country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, has announced that in 2026, it will be launching its eVX electric SUV-based MPV. This new electric MPV has been codenamed YMC. Apart from this, the company has already confirmed the launch of the eVX electric SUV for later this year.

What The Maruti YMC Electric MPV Could Look Like?

Recently, a render of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YMC electric MPV has been shared online. This image comes courtesy of CarScoops. From this render, we can note that the YMC will boast a premium-looking exterior. It could incorporate design details from the upcoming eVX electric SUV.

The similarities can be noted at the front with the use of similar Y-shaped LED DRLs and a blacked-out strip in the middle. Overall, the shape of the MPV looks slightly bulbous, but with a number of sharp body lines as well. The rendered car can be seen with a dual-tone color scheme. Additionally, we can note big aero blade-style alloy wheels, also finished in two colors.

Maruti Suzuki Skateboard Platform

As stated above, Maruti Suzuki has internally codenamed this forthcoming electric MPV as YMC. Reports have stated that this electric MPV will boast the same 27PL skateboard architecture. This particular EV architecture is being developed by both strategic partners, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Motor Corporation.

Over the last few months, it has been reported that this new EV architecture will be modular. It will be used by both carmakers to launch multiple body style models. Coming to the powertrain details of this electric MPV, it will most likely get the exact same battery options and electric motor which will be seen under the eVX.

A number of reports have revealed that the Maruti Suzuki eVX and the YMC will be offered with two battery pack options. The first will be a 40 kWh, and the second will be a 60 kWh battery pack. Estimated range for the larger battery pack will be around 550 km. Also, many believe that it will be offered with an AWD system.

Launch date and pricing of YMC EV MPV

At the moment, the company has confirmed that its newest MPV, which will be its first electric MPV, will be launched around September of 2026. As for the pricing, most likely it will be priced in the range of Rs 20-30 lakh. Currently, there are no electric MPVs in the India market save for the BYD E6, whose prices start from Rs 29.3 lakh.

Other Maruti Suzuki electric cars on horizon

Apart from the aforementioned eVX electric SUV and YMC electric MPV, the company is also planning to launch two other electric cars in India. The first of these other two EVs will be a seven-seater electric SUV. It is likely to be taking on the upcoming Tata Safari EV and Mahindra XUV.e9 – the electric version of XUV700.

Reports have suggested that it too could be based on the same 27PL Skateboard EV architecture. Also, it will also be expected to get the same 40 kWh and 60 kWh battery packs with a maximum driving range of 550 km. Currently, more information on this EV seven-seater SUV is awaited.

In addition  to this, the company is also rumored to be working on an electric mini EV. Most likely, this small EV will be competing with the likes of the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3 in India. As for the launch, the company is looking to launch this mini EV around May of 2026.

As per the reports, this new mini EV will be based on a different EV architecture. This new electric platform has been reported to be named K-EV. At this moment, the exact powertrain specifications for this mini EV along with details of its design have been kept closely guarded. However, most likely in the upcoming months, we could see the company rolling out its test mules in the country.
