All New Maruti Dzire And Honda Amaze Compact Sedans Launching Soon: Details

While customers in India are running after SUVs, there is still a section of buyers who prefer a comfortable sedan. The sub-4 meter sedan segment has not seen much action for a very long time, but that is expected to change this year. In 2024, we expect to see two new launches in the sub-4 meter sedan segment: the new-generation Maruti Dzire and the all-new Honda Amaze.

According to reports that have surfaced online, Maruti is expected to launch the next-generation Dzire sedan during the festive season this year. The Honda Amaze sedan, which has not seen an update in a very long time, will also undergo a generation change. The updated or all-new Amaze is expected to hit the Indian market by the end of 2024.

Global NCAP recently released test results of the Honda Amaze, scoring it 2 stars in the crash test. Honda released a statement hinting that the Amaze will soon undergo a generation change.

The upcoming Honda Amaze will be based on the same platform as the Honda City and Elevate. As this is a smaller sedan, the wheelbase of the car will be shorter than that of an SUV or sedan. Reports suggest that Honda is likely to offer the Amaze with a design inspired by some of the bigger Honda models sold internationally, giving the sedan a premium look to keep up with the competition.

Like the exterior, the interior of the Honda Amaze will also be updated, featuring more features and a redesigned cabin for a more premium look than ever before. Expect to see a floating-type touchscreen infotainment system, a partially digital instrument cluster, and many more features seen in the Honda City and Elevate.

The Maruti Dzire has been spotted testing several times on Indian roads. It is expected to have a similar styling to the Swift, with elements that differentiate it from the Swift hatchback. The Dzire will likely have a sleeker design, similar to the Swift, and the interior of the all-new Dzire is expected to be the same as the hatchback.

Expect a freestanding 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a multi-function steering wheel, a twin-pod analog instrument cluster, digital MID, cruise control, and more.

Both the Honda Amaze and the Maruti Dzire will be offered with petrol engine options only. The Honda Amaze will use a 1.2-liter, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine generating around 90 PS and 110 Nm of peak torque. The Maruti Dzire, on the other hand, is expected to be offered with the all-new 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine, which generates 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak torque, similar to the engine available in the new Swift.

The Honda Amaze will be offered with a 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox option, while the Maruti Dzire will get a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option. Both the Honda Amaze and Dzire will be offered with CNG fuel options at a later stage. With all these changes, the prices for both the Amaze and Dzire are likely to increase. Price for current generation Honda Amaze starts at Rs 7.20 lakh, ex-showroom and price for Maruti Dzire starts at Rs 6.57 lakh, ex-showroom.
