A speculative render of the Nissan Magnite Facelift

The test mule of face-lifted version of the Nissan Magnite was spotted last month in Chennai. Even though the test mule was highly camouflaged, some details could be made out.
As per the reports and spotting, the 2024 Magnite will come with a refreshed exterior design. The SUV will now feature a design which is similar to Nissan’s global SUV lineup. The overall silhouette of the car will remain the same and the changes will be done to the soft parts only such as lights and bumpers.

Some minor changes are expected in the interior as well. According to Team-BHP sources, the Magnite facelift will come with additional features such as single-pane sunroof and 6 airbags along with a refreshed dashboard design.

No changes are expected to be done to the engine of the car. Current version of the Magnite comes with 2 engine options: a 1.0-litre three cylinder petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit. The naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 71 hp and 96 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT that was introduced recently.

On the other hand, the turbo petrol engine produces 98 hp and 160 Nm of torque. Transmission options with the engine include a 5-speed manual or a CVT. The NA engine delivers an ARAI claimed mileage of 20 kmpl while the turbo-charged engine is less fuel efficient with an ARAI claimed mileage of 17.4 kmpl.

The major complaint with Magnite has been its power and even with the update Nissan has not fixed this issue. If we compare the turbocharged variant of Magnite with normal variants of other sub-compact SUVs, the Magnite will still be underpowered.

The car comes with a host of safety features as well. This includes a n impressive 4-star GNCAP crash test rating, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors. Higher variants get additional features like traction control, hill start assist, and electronic stability control.

Currently, the prices for the SUV start at Rs. 5.99 lakhs for the base XE variant and goes up to Rs. 11.11 lakhs for the top of the line XV Premium (O) Turbo CVT. This price range makes the Nissan Magnite the most affordable sub-compact SUV in the Indian market. It rivals other cars such as the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.

Launched back in 2020, Magnite is due for a major facelift. Moving ahead, Nissan has big plans for the Indian market. After the Magnite Facelift is launched, Nissan will launch the badge engineered 5-seater and 7-seater versions of the Nissan Duster.
