Nissan X-Trail SUV spied in India ahead of launch

nissan x-trail upcoming

While we are expecting more new products from Nissan soon in India, the Japanese carmaker has been teasing a few of its products time and again to gauge public interest. One such global product from Nissan is the X-Trail, which was reported to be confirmed to launch this year. While that launch is yet to happen, the Nissan X-Trail has been spied out in the open once again in production-ready form.

Nissan X-Trail SUV spied in India ahead of launch

An image shared by Bunny Punia shows a grey-coloured Nissan X-Trail SUV out on a highway during a trial run. Unlike the previous sightings of the X-Trail on Indian roads, in which the SUV was seen in fully camouflaged forms, this time, the X-Trail was seen without any covers. The Nissan X-Trail seen undisguised on the road was wearing test plates, indicating that Nissan might be in the final leg of testing the X-Trail on Indian roads and might launch the midsize SUV soon in India.

The version of the Nissan X-Trail spied this time is the same fourth-generation version of the SUV, which was showcased by Nissan last year in India, alongside Qashqai and Juke SUVs in a public event. At that time, Nissan did confirm that the X-Trail will launch in India in the coming months, while it showcased the Qashqai and Juke to gauge public interest. However, more than a year has passed since then, and Nissan is yet to launch the fourth-generation X-Trail in India, which is already going to be a three-year-old product, since it first debuted globally in April 2023.

The Nissan X-Trail was showcased in India in 2022 with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol-electric hybrid powertrain, and it was confirmed to arrive in India with this powertrain. We expect that the X-Trail spied on India this time was the same ePower petrol-electric hybrid version. The image of the Nissan X-Trail spied this time shows the rear profile of the hybrid SUV, which highlights a roof spoiler, muscular silver skid plate and large-sized multi-spoke alloy wheels.

Ever since the Kicks SUV and Datsun brand of budget cars were discontinued in India, Nissan has been operating solely on the shoulders of its lone offering, the Magnite. Nissan is reportedly working on a range of all-new products for the Indian market, one of which is this version of the X-Trail spied on test recently. Besides the X-Trail, Nissan is also expected to launch a compact MPV based on the Renault Duster and a midsize SUV based on the recently unveiled all-new Renault Duster in the coming months.
