17 Year-Old Drives Dad’s BMW X1 With Man Sitting On Bonnet [Video]

Social media has become a double-edged sword in today’s time. On one hand, it helps us stay up to date with trends and keeps us entertained. On the other hand, it makes people do stupid stuff and share videos of it online. Most recently, another video of stupidity has been shared online. In this short clip, a 17-year-old kid was reportedly driving his second-hand BMW X1 SUV while a 21-year-old dumb boy was sitting on the bonnet. The shocking thing is all of this was being done on a very busy road.

This video, showing how stupid people can get for views, has been shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Bitman Raj. According to reports, this incident has been reported from Kalyan near Mumbai, Maharashtra. What happens in this short clip is that a white first-generation BMW X1 was seen coming into the frame of the video with a boy on the bonnet.

Reportedly, this young boy is aged 21, and the one who was driving the car is aged 17. Sources have also reported that the car is owned by the father of the kid who was driving it on the main road. Apparently, after getting inspired by influencers on social media, the kid requested his father to buy a used BMW.

What happens next?

Moving on, after the first clip, the video shows the cameraman following this particular vehicle, which then stopped at a traffic signal. At this point as well, the 21-year-old kid was sitting on the bonnet. However, this time around, he was laughing in front of the cameraman and enjoying his little trip on the bonnet.

Has the police taken any action?

At the moment, there are reports stating that a case has been filed against the owner of this particular BMW X1. It has also been reported that the father of this kid is a government official.

Officials investigating this matter have stated, “The case has been registered against the official for allowing his underage son to drive without a driving license.”

Other violations of this BMW X1

Other than the main violation of an underage driver and an unsafe passenger, this particular BMW X1 violates a number of other rules as well. It can be noted that the car at the front is missing a number plate. Meanwhile, the rear, which has a number plate, has the numbers in Hindi.

Apart from this, what we can also note is that all of the windows have been tinted. These windows do not have a light tint, which is legal. Rather, they have been given a full dark black tint, which does not show anything of the interior.

Used BMW X1

Currently, the first generation of the BMW X1, as seen in the video above, has become extremely affordable. They are currently selling in the used car market for around Rs 5-9 lakh. Because of this, a number of people are buying them for the bragging rights they bring with the BMW logos on the front and rear.

As mentioned, young people on social media have become enamored with showing off wealth online. Due to this, people are taking different routes to portray their lives better than it actually is. This particular case is a prime example of this phenomenon that has been growing in India.

This particular generation of the BMW X1 was offered with two engine options. The first was the sDrive 1.8i petrol engine that made 147.5 bhp, and the other was the sDrive 2.0d diesel engine, which offered 174 bhp. At the time of its launch back in 2010, it was offered with a price tag of Rs 22 lakh. It was the most affordable BMW in India at the time.
