India’s First Stage 2 Volkswagen Virtus GT 1.5 Makes 190 Bhp [Video]

The Volkswagen Virtus GT, ever since its launch, has managed to tickle each and every automotive enthusiast in the country. Many believed that, coming equipped with a very capable 1.5-litre EVO engine, it would be a dream for people who love to modify cars. However, until now, nobody has managed to unlock the ECU that comes with this car. Despite all odds, recently, a video of a Virtus 1.5 GT with a stage 2 ECU tune has been shared online. This particular car makes around 190 bhp.

The video of this particular Volkswagen Virtus GT with 190 bhp comes courtesy of The Drivers Hub from YouTube. It starts with the presenter introducing this Virtus. He highlights that this is the only Stage 2 tuned Volkswagen Virtus 1.5 GT in the entire country. He then explains that the way it has been achieved is slightly different.

Exterior modifications

Following the introduction, the presenter first begins with the list of modifications done on the exterior of the new Swift. He starts by mentioning that the owner of this particular car has equipped it with bigger 17-inch alloy wheels. It gets a set of Lenso multi-spoke alloys, which are finished in gunmetal grey color.

Next up, he shows that the car has been given a carbon fiber bonnet. It also gets a carbon fiber lip spoiler as well. Moving on to the more serious modifications, he states that this car gets a new Gecko Suspension setup. This new setup comprises all-new adjustable coilovers, which help in decreasing the ground clearance of this car.

Performance modifications

Next up, the presenter talks about the main highlights and modifications done on this car. He states that it now gets a new downpipe and an OEM replacement performance air filter.

Additionally, the most expensive and important performance modification on this car is the new ECU. He explains that the 1.5-litre EVO engined Virtus GT ECU has not been cracked by the tuners as of yet.

The owner of this Virtus GT, along with the help of Code 6 Tuners, has imported a brand-new ECU. The presenter then states that the stock ECU has been replaced, and this new ECU has helped in achieving a lot more power.

As per the presenter, this car currently makes around 180-190 bhp. He added that these figures, along with the torque figures, have not been dyno tested as of yet. Apart from this, the rest of the car has been kept pretty basic.

How has this power gain become possible?

Although the presenter in the video has not mentioned which particular car’s ECU has been imported and added to this Virtus, a lot of people have speculated that it belongs to the Volkswagen T-ROC SUV. They have stated it also comes with the same engine as the Virtus GT.

However, in the T-ROC that is sold internationally, it produces around 180-190 bhp. Whether this is the case with this particular Virtus is currently unknown. Apart from this, the presenter also mentions that this new replacement stage 2 ECU, along with a stage 2 tune for TCU (Transmission Control Unit), costs Rs 90,000 from Code 6 Tuners.

How does it drive?

After explaining everything, the presenter then takes this Virtus GT out for a drive. He states that the difference in power can be immediately noticed. He states that the car now feels a lot more lively and fun to drive than it already was. He adds that the gain may not be extremely huge, but it is very noticeable.
