Starting a Toyota Qualis that has been rusting on road side for over 5 years [Video]

Toyota is a brand that is often connected with with reliability. Toyota has been in India for over two decades and one of the first product from Toyota that we officially got in India was Qualis. It was an MPV and became a hit among buyers in a short span of time. It was available in the market for short period of time as it was replaced with Toyota Innova which turned out to be even more popular. Finding a Toyota Qualis on the roads is actually difficult. In South India, many people who own Qualis have started restoring and customising it. We have seen several videos of that nature on internet in the past. Here the video of a mechanic where he tries to start a Qualis that has been rusting on the road side for over 5 years.

The video has been uploaded by TRUCKZ GURU on their YouTube channel. The video starts with vlogger who is also the mechanic explaining the scenario. A Toyota Qualis has been left to rust on the roadside for a very long time. Vlogger mentions that the car was last started almost 6 years ago and they were there to check if the Qualis will start or not. They spoke to the owner of the Qualis and the owner handed over the keys to them.

Vlogger opens the door using the key and is surprised to seen the interiors. The owner of this car had maintained the car well and the interiors were still looking nice. There was dust both inside and outside the car because it was parked in open space next to a road. Vlogger then opens the bonnet and checks if any of the wires have been damaged over the years or not. Once he checked the connections, he went ahead and opened the radiator to check the water level. To his surprise, the radiator had water filled to the top. The engine oil had become old but, it was sufficient to start the car.

Once basic thing were checked, they brought a battery and connected it with the car to jump start. After the battery was connected, the instrument cluster started showing an indication on it but, the car was not starting. They checked the wires again and this time, the car was taking showing good signs. Vlogger then got out and asked his friend to start the car while he manually pumps the lift pump to psh diesel to the engine. Once he started doing that, the Qualis started without any issues.

There were no clatters or any other noise coming from the engine. All the tyres were flat and was stuck in soil. Vlogger checkes accelerator, brake and clutch pedals and they were all working fine. After this he tried engaging gear and move the car but, the rear wheels started spinning as they car was stuck in one place. This Qualis is an example why people relate Toyota with reliability. We are not sure whether a car from any other brand would have started so easily after being left unattended for years. We hope someone finds this Qualis, restores it and brings it back to life.
