eWX patented in India

Suzuki showcased the eWX electric hatchback concept at the Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) a few months ago. Suzuki has filed a patent for their eWX electric hatchback in India. This could be a hint that Suzuki is interested in launching this new electric car in the Indian market. The Suzuki eWX might be the most affordable EV from Maruti if it gets launched in India.

The design is similar to some of the kei cars that were available in the Japanese market. Suzuki has only revealed the dimensions and the driving range of this electric hatchback. According to reports, the Suzuki eWX concept is 3,395 mm long, 1,475 mm wide, and 1,620 mm tall. We have videos of the eWX available online that show the electric hatchback concept in detail.

The design of the electric hatchback looks inspired by the Suzuki Solio. The eWX concept is a small car, and according to Suzuki, it will have a driving range of 230 km on a single charge. The tall-boy design is extremely popular in many markets, including India, as it makes the cabin look more spacious and roomier.

The closed front grille, rectangular light bar outlining the front grille with the Suzuki logo in the center, and LED lights on the front bumper with a squared-out design complete the front look. The concept showcased by Suzuki has lights with a boxy look to match the overall theme. We can even see these boxy design elements on the wheels of this concept.

The side profile of this electric car also features a boxy design, and just like the front, the rear of this hatchback concept gets a rectangular light bar. It also has another set of lights below the taillight with LED turn indicators in them.

The concept showcased at the Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) had a rear windshield that was curved towards the roof, giving the car a better look from this part. The concept gets a Kinetic Yellow shade on the interior, a floating-type center console, a fully digital instrument cluster, and an infotainment screen.

With Suzuki filing a patent for the all-new eWX or EV miniwagon in India, it would be safe to say that Maruti might start working on this electric car soon. We do not have a clear timeline for when the eWX will be launched. However, if we were to guess, the eWX is expected to be launched around 2026-2027.

Before the launch of this, Maruti will be launching the eVX electric SUV in India. It is actually an electric SUV of the same size as the Grand Vitara. The test mules for this upcoming EV have been spotted testing several times on our roads.

This is going to be the first electric vehicle to be offered by Maruti in India. We currently have a range of petrol and strong hybrid cars from Maruti in their lineup. With the introduction of the eVX and many more EVs, Maruti wishes to dominate the electric vehicle space in the near future.
