Tata Harrier Petrol And EV: New Launch Timelines Revealed

Tata Motors currently sells its Harrier mid-size SUV with only a diesel engine option. Now a lot of people adore this motor, but there are a lot of people who want to see this SUV with a petrol motor. Now we already know that Tata Motors has been working on this request from buyers and planning to offer a petrol engine with the Harrier. However, now we have the exact launch timeline for the launch of the Harrier petrol. Additionally, the launch timeline for the Harrier EV has also been confirmed.

Tata Harrier petrol launch timeline

According to Carwale, Tata Motors is all set to introduce the Harrier petrol in 2025. The exact dates have not been shared at the moment. Once launched, it will be taking on rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and others.

For those who may not be aware, the company will be offering the Harrier with a 1.5-litre TGDi petrol engine. This particular motor was shown by the brand back in 2023 at the Indian Auto Expo. This new four-cylinder turbo engine will be able to generate 170 bhp of power. It will also be able to generate a maximum torque output of 280 Nm.

Tata Motors managing director Shailesh Chandra during an interview stated that the company understands the importance of a petrol power plant in the lineup. He stated that volumes of petrol-powered vehicles are going up, and it’s important that they offer one in their lineup for Harrier and Safari.

However, he also highlighted that the development of this petrol motor is proving to be a challenge. On the brighter side, he stated that once fully developed, this petrol motor will be making its way under the bonnets of the petrol-powered Curvv and Sierra SUVs, along with the Harrier and Safari duo.

Tata Harrier EV

Apart from the Tata Harrier petrol, the company is also planning to launch the Tata Harrier EV as well. The company so far has not revealed the exact date for the launch of this SUV. However, it has been confirmed that it will be launched in 2025. It has also been confirmed that the Harrier EV will launch before the launch of the Harrier petrol.

As per the company, this new electric iteration of the Harrier will come equipped with Tata’s new “acti.ev” architecture. Experts have speculated a real-world range of 400-500 km with a 60 kWh battery pack. The company is planning to offer this new EV SUV with standout features like vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities.

Earlier in February, Tata Motors showcased the Harrier EV at this year’s Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo. This particular model was seen with a unique metallic green paint shade. It was also noted to have a unique set of aero disc-style alloy wheels. The battery pack seen on this particular model was hanging a little lower underneath the body of the car. The interior of this car seen finished in dual tone shade of black and white.
