2023 tata nexon facelift

7-speed dual-clutch (DCA) transmission, paddle-shifters for the Nexon facelift

Finally, after waiting for months, Tata Motors has unveiled the facelifted iteration of its highly popular sub-compact SUV, Nexon. This updated Nexon has been long anticipated, and it looks exactly as we expected it to be. The new Nexon facelift gets a whole new exterior and interior design, all while retaining the familiar body that we have seen since its initial launch back in 2017. Tata Motors has announced that reservations for this SUV will commence from September 4th. Meanwhile, the official launch of the 2023 Nexon will take place on September 14th. Here’s a video brochure that reveals more.

Exterior design updates

The first and foremost thing that everyone expected, and the company has delivered, is a brand new exterior design update to the Nexon. This new overhaul of the exterior has brought the model up to modern standards. On the front, the Nexon Facelift now gets a split headlamp and DRLs setup that ties it in with the rest of the SUV lineup of Tata Motors. The top half of the front is dominated by sleek-looking LED DRLs that seamlessly fuse with the sleek front grille. This thin grille also houses a small Tata logo.

Next up, another one of the biggest design updates is the positioning of the headlights. The new all-LED headlights are now vertically stacked on either end of the lower front bumper. The middle grille, just like the front bumper, is all brand new and gives the SUV a much more modern appearance. The company has ditched the tri-arrow pattern of the previous Nexon. The front bonnet and fenders have also been heavily revised.

Moving on to the side profile of the 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift, we can note that the company has retained the same door panels. The overall side profile has not changed much and still features the sharp body lines that run across the length. The only major difference on the new 2023 model is the set of brand new futuristic-looking alloy wheels.

Coming to the rear end of the new car, the main highlight is the addition of new, sharper-looking Y-shaped LED taillights. These taillights are also connected, which is another new and modern touch by Tata Motors. Lastly, the rear bumper has also been fully redesigned. The extreme ends of the bumpers feature new cutouts for the reflectors and reverse lights. Additionally, the rear now gets a silver skid plate as well, like the front.

Interior updates

Just like the exterior, the interior of the new Nexon Facelift has gone through a major overhaul. The company has made the interior of the new Nexon a lot simpler and more modern. The SUV now gets a much larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the middle, which sits just above the new and sleeker air vents. The top portion of the dashboard is plastic, while the middle section gets a swanky carbon fiber-like design. Additionally, the lower section gets leatherette upholstery. The center console buttons have also been ditched thanks to the new screen.

Further down below, the buttons for the automatic air conditioning system have also been replaced by a brand new capacitive button display. There are only two toggle switches, and the rest of the HVAC controls are touch-based. The car now also gets a modern-looking two-spoke steering wheel with controls for the infotainment screen and the all-new digital instrument cluster.

Features

In terms of features, the new Nexon facelift also gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a nine-speaker setup, and ventilated front seats. In addition to these, the car also gets features like an air purifier, ambient lighting, a wireless charger, cruise control, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitor, and six airbags.

Engine and transmission options

In terms of powertrain options, the new Nexon facelift gets two options. The first is a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine. This engine will generate a maximum of 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. The other option is a 1.5-liter diesel engine. This engine produces 113 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. In terms of transmission, both engines will come with manual and automated manual transmissions (AMT).

On the other hand, the turbo-petrol variant will also come equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic as an option. The dual-clutch automatic transmission will also get paddle shifters.

Variants and color options

As for the variants, the company has ditched the old complex nomenclature. The new 2023 Nexon will now be offered in 11 variants, namely Smart, Smart+, Smart+ S, Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative+, Creative+ S, Fearless, Fearless+, and Fearless+ S. The company has announced that the ‘+’ denotes an optional package that will include some added features. The ‘S,’ on the other hand, stands for variants with a sunroof.
