Toyota Fortuner vs Mahindra XUV700 in a classic drag race [Video]

The SUV segment in India is booming like no other segment and the sheer number of options is just unmatched in it. Out of all the SUVs two particular SUVs stand out the most in India one of them is the ladder-on-frame SUV Toyota Fortuner and the other is the monocoque chassis SUV Mahindra XUV700. The Fortuner is known for its imposing looks and road presence. Meanwhile, the XUV700 is known for its technological advancements and modern appearance. Both cars have massive price differences and do not compete with each other. However, recently a drag was held between the two popular SUVs and the winner was the one that you might not expect.

The video of the drag race between the mighty Toyota Fortuner and the Mahindra XUV700 has been shared on YouTube by Akhil 0005 Vlogs on their channel. The presenter starts off the video with the introduction of both SUVs. He mentions that they have brought these two SUVs along with a ton of others to drag race them against each other to find out the most powerful SUV in the Indian market. He then adds that in this video they will be racing the Fortuner against the XUV700.

Engine differences

Following the introduction, the presenter of the video mentions that the Toyota Fortuner in the 4X2 diesel variant. This variant comes powered by a 2.8 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. This engine produces a maximum of 201 bhp of power and 500 Nm of torque. He adds that the Fortuner in the video is an automatic transmission model. Next up he adds that the XUV700 is powered by a 2.2 diesel turbocharged engine that makes around 182 bhp of power and 450 Nm of torque. He adds that this too has an automatic transmission.

Races

After the introduction, both cars are lined up against each other at the start line for the drag race. The presenter of the video then sits in the passenger seat of the SUV and mentions that they will be keeping their car in Eco mode and keeping the air conditioner on. He also adds that the settings will be the same on the XUV700 as well. After this, his driver commences the race with the blare of three horns. Immediately the XUV700 takes the jump and forms a gap away from the Fortuner. After this, the gap just keeps on increasing.

For the second race, the presenter in the Fortuner states that they will be putting their SUV in sports mode. They ask the XUV700 driver to keep their vehicle in Eco mode. After this, they line up once again on the road and race. This time again the XUV700 takes the lead and makes a huge gap against the Fortuner. Now for the last race, the Fortuner is kept in the sports mode and this time its air conditioner is also turned off. They ask the XUV700 driver to still keep the car in Eco mode for an advantage. Despite all of these changes, the Fortuner could not keep up with the XUV700 and the Mahindra SUV once again wins the drag race.
