Everyone knows that Mahindra is currently working on a bigger 5-door version of the Thar for our market. The test mule of the upcoming Mahindra Thar has been spotted testing several times. We now have a fair idea of what the outside of the Thar 5-door would look like. The official launch of the Mahindra Thar 5-door is scheduled for sometime next year. One of the recent spy pics of the upcoming Thar shows how the interior of the Thar would look.

The pictures have been shared by Motorbeam on their website. We have seen several spy pictures of the exterior; however, this is probably the first time we are getting a clear view of the interiors. There are a couple of things that you would notice in the picture. First is the steering wheel. The 5-door variant gets a different steering wheel when compared to the 3-door version. This unit looks similar to the one seen in the Mahindra XUV700. The door pockets and bottle holder design look the same as the 3-door version.

The seats used on this test mule are borrowed from the 3-door version, and we can see the Thar branding on them too. The other noticeable change here is the armrest. We see two armrests for both the driver and co-passenger. This was something that was missing in the 3-door variant. The color of the Mahindra upholstery on the armrest looks brown. It is quite possible that Mahindra might offer a black and brown dual-tone theme for the Mahindra Thar 5-door cabin. There are a couple of cup holders on the center console, and we also see storage spaces under the toggle switches. The other noticeable difference is the touchscreen.

It looks like a bigger unit than the one seen in the Thar 3-door. The interface and features on this unit might be similar to the ones seen on the Scorpio N and XUV700. The design of the AC vents remains the same, and they are placed neatly under the touchscreen unit. We could also see the AC control switches, which look similar to the 3-door variant. A grab handle on the A-pillar, USB Type-C charging ports, are also visible in the picture. The one seen here in the pictures is the 4×4 variant, as we can see the lever for the same in the picture.

The Mahindra Thar will be offered with a proper second-row seat, making the SUV a lot more practical than the current 3-door version. Mahindra might also be offering decent boot space with the 5-door version. Other than the 5-door version, Mahindra will also introduce an electric version of the Thar in the future. They showcased the Thar.e concept to the world last month, announcing the same. The Mahindra Thar 5-door will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version will use a 2.0-liter turbocharged mStallion engine, whereas the diesel version will come with a 2.2-liter mHawk turbocharged unit. The engines are expected to be tuned differently than the 3-door version. Mahindra will be offering the Thar 5-door in both 4×4 and 4×2 configurations.
