Will You Pay 5 Lakh For This Renault SUV?

The used car market in India is growing at a very good pace. Several online platforms are available through which one can sell their vehicles. Some people even use social media as a platform to get the best deal and reduce middlemen. We often come across very attractive offers on such platforms. Here we have one such post about a Renault SUV. In the images, we see a premium SUV with extremely rusted panels. However, it is not what it looks like. Let’s dig deep and find out.

The images have been posted by a seller from Kerala’s Kozhikode district. The SUV seen in the post is a Renault Koleos. It was once the flagship SUV from the manufacturer. The SUV looks completely rusted at first glance. However, if you look carefully, it is not the panels that have rust issues. It is, in fact, a wrap that is designed to make the car look rusty.

The car has been completely wrapped in this wrap and looks very realistic. On the wrap, we also see blue and red stripes that look very familiar. It is probably the legendary Martini Racing livery. The racing stripes start from the bonnet and go all the way to the rear. The wrap job done on this SUV looks extremely clean.

The worn-out or rusted exterior look gives the SUV a very unique appearance. Other than the wrap, the SUV looks stock. At the front, we see the original projector-type headlamps and fog lamps. We do not get a clear view of the front, but it looks like the front grille has been blacked out, including the Renault logo. All other chrome elements in the car have also probably been blacked out.

This looks like the top-end variant which came with dual-tone alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, rear defogger and wiper, and so on. The post even shows the interior of the SUV, in which we see leatherette upholstery in beige color. A portion of the dashboard and AC vents are also visible in the images.

The Koleos came with several premium features like an 8-speaker music system from Bose, automatic climate control, cruise control, six airbags, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, push-button start/stop, ABS, EBD, Emergency Brake Assist, ESC, and so on. It even came with a split tailgate.

The Renault Koleos was available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine that generated 150 Ps and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine was mated to an automatic transmission. It was a premium SUV that offered an automatic 4WD system. This SUV was sold as a CKD and was priced at Rs 22.22 lakh, ex-showroom when new.

Coming back to the Koleos seen in the post here, it is a 2012 model SUV and is the diesel automatic 4×4 version. The owner mentions that the wrap and graphic stickers on this SUV are endorsed on the RC. There is no information available regarding the odometer readings or the number of previous owners. The SUV is registered in Kerala and the asking price for this SUV is Rs 4.85 lakh.
